Sandia Peak Inn is not in a very nice neighborhood. Our room the bathroom door knob would not pop back up when opened or closed, the tub had a stain on the bottom and there were fuzz bunnieson the floor. The entry door was hard to open, then had to be forced shut. The staff was friendly. Don't plan on eating much on the continental breakfast.

While the people running the place were very kind, and the hotel wasn’t horrible, this area of Albuquerque is sketch. Other customers hanging outside their rooms talking loud as hell and a very large man walking back and forth above us all night made for a miserable stay.

We were just passing through so were not concerned about most of the questions, such as shopping, dining options or transportation. We did really enjoy the couple who checked us in, as they were very friendly and helpful with information. We would stay here again.

There is no door security or chain on the room doors, which open to the outside. This would not be ok even in a hallway, however.

There is no elevator, just stairs. The doors have a deadbolt, but not a chain or door lock mechanism for added security. This is not ok in this day and age, especially since the rooms open to the outside. The road was extremely noisy with cars racing up and down the street so our second night there, I hardly slept. The owner and his wife were very nice, even when we arrived after flying in at midnight.

Cheap & Cheerful

The pros: Great price and close to Old Town, Downtown, University area and Bio Park. Very clean and the staff was friendly and kind. The cons: Being right on historic Route 66, you get more than your fair share of people with loud cars and bikes revving engines at all hours. This isn't the hotels fault - you'd probably have this problem at any of the old motels on the strip. But if you're a light sleeper, it's something to consider. The fixtures are a bit dated, the AC was pretty loud. The bed was reasonably comfortable. For the price, this is a great spot. I spent 3 nights here and would come back.

Most repairs minor, but so many of them! Handles on drawers half hanging off, insufficient or sporadic lighting, lamp shade bent and switch bent so much almost unable to turn it, shower head barely fixed and not working properly, pool was gross (don't think it was open), fitness center closed for remodel (guess something was getting fixed), and noisy, although the property can't be held responsible for young adults racing back and forth on the street and revving engines.

By miracle I was able to find this little gem last minute after an emergency trip was made me made my booking online. This place is cozy quiet and full of charm the staff is nothing short of amazing especially since I had made my booking on line and unfortunately the room was supposed to get the other guest decided to do A last min extension. The manager/front desk went above and beyond to accommodate and upgraded my room free and was still able to keep the accommodations of mobility for myself and my mother. The fact that he was willing to ensure I got my room during such a troubling time and still keep the accommodations met just shows that this gem is above it's class. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We definitely be coming back. The beds a comfy the rooms are clean and location can't be beat, close to lots of dining options and being close to tingle beach the zoo and botanical gardens is definitely a perk. Thank you again
