Our stay at Ivy House was very nice. However I will not be using Expedia again. Expedia clearly stated that we would pay at the property, then shortly after booking asked us to pay 50% deposit, which after checking with the property was not required. Then 24 hours before arrival Expedia took the full amount from our account. I will not deal with companies that behave in this manner. If you agree do not deal with Expedia.

The owners, Paul and Kate go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I rarely write reviews, but looked forward to sharing about The Ivy House. The room we stayed in was well stocked with fresh water, tea, and hot chocolate. The bed was very comfortable and I have a fussy back. The shower was modern. You can order your breakfast the night before and eat it in an extraordinarily well decorated dining room. A most pleasant stay.

A truly beautiful property. A very comfortable and relaxing stay. The breakfast was fantastic. Really nice touch that you could order a glass or bottle of wine to your room. A bed and breakfast stay with sheer glamour.

We loved our stay at The Ivy. Absolutely spotless and we were leaving early and were able to get breakfast served earlier and exactly what we wanted - porridge & blueberries before a big cycle ride, perfect. The beds are very comfy and it’s in a quiet location. Highly recommend.

Beautiful restoration of an old building with more work to be done on the windows and sills. Lovely, welcoming owners who were very helpful with any of our needs. Breakfast requirements texted the night before and ready for us at the specified time. Comfortable beds and modern bathroom with easy to use shower. Car parking space. What's not to like?

1st this property is in Hawkshead not Ambleside. Property could not be in a better location and is a grand building with great parking. The owners have pretty much nailed everything in a very unobtrusive way. Good breakfast with good choice. Rates are reasonable and they are dog friendly. Would recommend without hesitation.

The Perfect Place - Ivy House

Very friendly hotel. Room very comfortable ans very clean. Great text message service to order breakfast and they do a great packed lumch. Beautful front elevation decorated for Easter.makes it a stand out talking piece hotel. Perfect in every way, couldnt fault in, even after watching many Four in a Bed TV episodes! A big well done to the owners... you got everything right.

Lovely stay at Ivy Hotel Hawkshead

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ivy Hotel. Room was spotless, bed was so comfortable. Had everything you need. Katie and her husband who own the Ivy was very welcoming & friendly. Breakfast was good plenty of choices. Couldnt fault it. Yes l would stay here again definitely. 😊
