Digby Pines is an architectural gem, and the building and its common spaces harken to a time when details mattered. Unfortunately, the building's current owners still need to put significant investments into the property and rooms, despite having purchased the complex for a song from the Province (and its taxpayers). The back exterior shows significant weather/vine staining on the stucco, with damage to the stucco around some of the bay windows. Heat pumps are a welcome addition for climate control, but the black, uncovered coolant lines also mar the visual appeal of the historic exterior. The rooms are heavily dated, with many fixtures that are decades old, and the overall room design feels like a patchwork of bandaids rather than a holistic look befitting the bones of the rooms which include hardwood floors and detailed trim throughout. Our stay was pleasant and staff were great, but Digby Pines can and should be so much more.

This property has so much potential. It is a historical hotel that needs a lot of work. The food and service the dining room are top notch. The front desk staff was very unfriendly when we checked in….front desk staff included a clerk and the finance manager. The HR manager and F and B manager were meeting in the lobby and they were very helpful and friendly. The HR manager even carried our bags up the stairs! Room service was great.

It's a lovely resort; although older, it is well-maintained. We had an interesting room with 2 full bathrooms. The staff is very friendly, and an excellent free buffet breakfast is included. One downside is that the controls for the heat pumps in the room are locked, so there is no way to override the temperature, which is bad, especially when it gets warmer. The air was not set to come on until 26 °C, which is too warm, especially when trying to sleep. We could not stay there in the summer for that reason.

Gorgeous property, room was very small, no fridge and bathroom even smaller. Walls needed painting, in the bathroom paint was peeling... a bit sad as it's such a beautiful venue!!!

The property was gorgeous and we loved the ‘look’ of the resort as it reminded us of the Algonquin in St Andrew’s NB. We loved how unique and quaint it is. The outdoor pool was amazing and clean. The grounds are stunning and we loved all the different colored rhododendrons. The food was spectacular and the staff willing to do anything for you. We will definitely try to get there again some day.

If you liked the hotel from the movie The Shining, this may be for you. I cannot understate how in need of a refresh this hotel requires. Terrible bathrooms, uncomfortable beds, permanently sealed windows, and the list goes on & on. They have the advantage of a lovely location (ocean view), a great golf course, and no competition in Digby but would not return unless they reinvest some money back into this hotel.
