Needs Work

First the good. The location is great. It’s very close to downtown and everything is within walking distance. The view of the river from the deck is amazing. Unfortunately, the property needs a lot of attention. Street side it looks like an abandoned building. There is a large old hotel to the left with broken windows and looks to have been abandoned some time go. The deck and stairs going to the living area are rough and need work. The deck had a sign saying only four people at a time were allowed on it, which wasn’t comforting. The dock below was broken, falling in a roped off. Once inside, it wasn’t nice but was livable but needed cleaning badly. There were spider webs throughout the living room and bathroom. The toilet was dirty and there was hair in the bathroom sink. The water smelled so bad that we left a day early. My wife’s hair and our clothes smelled like rotten eggs (Sulfer) so strongly that we were embarrassed to go out anywhere. For full disclosure, when we received check in instructions, there was a statement about the water. We have both been around well water before so we weren’t too concerned about it, but this was on a different level. Unfortunately, we would not recommend staying here until it receives a lot of TLC.

We love this stay!

This is our second trip to what we've dubbed The Oyster Shack! They've made some great improvements in a new handrail for the deck, the grill downstairs, etc. and the view is unbeatable!

Birthday Getaway

The location was amazing as far as the riverview and access to town. It was very quiry but almost felt isolated. There is a condemned property next door that created an uncomfortable feeling. The apartment is spacious but could use some updating. quie
