Folks, this is Vermont. The house is historic, rustic, quaint and comfortable, with a great fire place. The kitchen has everything you'll need to make a full meal or a late night snack. The Battenkill river is right across the street (no really, it is right across the street). Views of the majestic mountain range and absolute silence at night are exactly what we needed to escape, well, life. Arlington is a quick 5 minute drive and then for another 10 mins you're enjoying all that Manchester has to offer. We relaxed and the kids skied Killington, Straton and Okemo. If you're looking for the Ritz, this is not the place for you, but then again if that's your vibe, you're probably in the wrong state altogether. Book, pack 'n go!

Great stay on the Battenkill!

We had a nice stay over July 4th Weekend. We chose this property because of the proximity to the bat and Battenkill River. My husband is a fly fisherman, so it was perfect for him to just go right across the street and start fishing! It is a busy part of the river with a lot of people kayaking or tubing, but it makes for great people watching! The house, given that it is 200 years old, was very clean. It is a corky house for sure but that's what you would expect in an 1800s home. The only thing I wish was that the greenery - plants and bushes weren't as overgrown as they were. In the posting, it shows that you can see the river from the side patio. But in fact, you cannot. I am sure it's pretty in the spring, with everything blooming. If they fenced that little area for the a pup that would be amazing! ;)The area itself is beautiful and nice to take the dog on a stroll. We would definitely come back again!

Comfy and Cozy

A cozy out-of-the-way, quiet place. In the area for my fathers memorial service. Very few places that would allow dogs. House is very homey and welcoming. Rather a comforting place given the sad nature of our trip. Sarah was very responsive. Our needs were met and it is a great place to enjoy a quiet walk or time by the river. It is 30 minutes to the nearest grocery store so make sure to stock up. I know the area quite well so that was not a major issue... but might come as a surprise to folks new to the region.

4 guys shared a historically old farm house. The scenery and the house was just right. Kind of like a stay at grandmas house. Right on the river. Super great if into fly fishing!

Cozy Vintage Charm

Our stay at the 1828 Cottage was delightful. It had everything we needed for a comfortable get away. The kitchen was very well stocked and we made some memorably delicious dinners and breakfasts. The bed in the master bedroom was ultra comfortable and we slept like babies. A hot shower was always available to warm and soothe our bones after wintry hikes. And the fireplace—very well stocked with wood—provided warmth and a cozy ambiance. But behind all of this was our host Sarah whose gracious spirit surrounded everything. The charming eclectic decor suited the cottage perfectly and Sarah was always on hand to answer any questions and to make suggestions for our stay. So we are glad we got to know Sarah and the cottage and felt well cared for in a home that is so lovingly preserved.
