Welcome to our charming 3-bedroom summer cottage nestled on the serene shores of Owasco Lake, boasting 100 feet of private lakefront. Recently listed as of May 2024, this historic 1000 sqft cottage has undergone a thoughtful renovation, blending modern comforts with classic charm.

Situated across two floors, the cottage features a spacious living room with soaring 18-foot ceilings and a door leading to a covered porch overlooking picturesque Owasco Lake. The porch is equipped with a ceiling fan, a dining table seating six, and a cozy seating area for 6-8 guests. Step outside to find a new Weber gas grill and four deck chairs.

A highlight of the property is the expansive 750 sqft patio just steps away from the water's edge. Here, you'll discover six deck chairs, a table with seating for four, and a fire pit surrounded by additional seating and a Solo Stove for memorable evenings by the lake. A short walk down nine stone steps leads to your private dock extending over 100 feet into the lake, perfect for docking your boat or jet ski, or simply relaxing by the water. Guests can also enjoy complimentary use of kayaks and paddleboards to explore the tranquil lake waters.

Located on the east side of Owasco Lake, known for its clear waters and stunning sunsets, the cottage offers easy access to local attractions. Just 35 minutes from Syracuse, 7 minutes from Auburn's town center, and 15 minutes from Skaneateles, guests can explore Finger Lakes wineries, hike the trails of Fillmore Glen Park, browse shops and eateries in Skaneateles village, or catch a Broadway-style show at the Merry Go Round Theater in Emerson Park.

Set on a spacious 3/4 acre lot with ample room for outdoor games, the cottage features a large front and backyard, along with a generous driveway for parking cars and trailers. For added peace of mind, a single camera monitors the driveway area.

Inside, the cottage comfortably accommodates up to six guests with beds arranged in three bedrooms: One with a king bed, another with a bunk bed, and a third with a full bed. The king bedroom is equipped with heat and air conditioning, and a closet. The double bedroom has heat and ac, a dresser, but no closet. The kids bunk bed room has a dresser, but no heat, ac, or closet. Keeping the door open to this room along with a fan helps to keep it comfortable. The main living room is furnished with a sofa, chairs, and includes amenities such as a 65" TV, a 5-disc CD/DVD changer with Bluetooth connectivity, and a speaker selector for indoor and outdoor sound.

The fully stocked kitchen provides all necessary appliances, utensils, and ample storage, making meal preparation a breeze. A keurig machine is provided for morning coffee.

Have spent many falls in the Figer Lakes area, but first time on Owasco. Have always had a great experience with VRBO rentals and this was no exception. Great property and location. John was a great owner/host, checking in with us shortly after we arrived. He answered the few questions I had immediately and was always available. Check-in was a breeze. The property itself is exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Quiet, and directly on the lake. The backyard, with full lawn down to the lake, was fantastic. A huge paver patio at waters edge with firepit, dining table and Adirondack chairs is the showpiece of the yard. Enjoyed coffee every morning down by the lake or out on the covered porch (another favorite of mine). An added plus if you are travelling with dogs (we had a 5-yr old German Shepherd with us) is that the back yard is almost completely fenced with a small open area on the front driveway side. The house was super clean and had everything we needed for cooking dinners and just plain relaxing. The house is equipped with 4 heating/cooling units that worked really well and only needed to use two for heating in late October (nights were in the 40s). We love the Finger Lakes in the fall so a little cold to enjoy lake activities, but a great central location for our daily local hikes and visiting family in Rochester. Highly recommend.

This is our second trip to this property and we love it! The home is comfortable and homey, but the outdoor space is what keeps us coming back. The dock is a wonderful place to start and end your day with comfortable chairs, umbrellas and beautiful view of the lake. We especially enjoy exploring the lake with the kayaks and paddle boards that are provided.

It was perfect. We had all sorts of plans for excursions in the area but we ended up never leaving the house. With our boat and a perfect spot on the lake, we didn’t need anything else. John had great communication. Check-in was easy and house was well stocked with linens. We were sad to leave.

The perfect family nautical retreat!

We stayed at John’s place for 6 nights in June and had nothing short of an incredible experience with so many memories to look back on. The house itself is beautifully and simply decorated in a fun nautical theme that really makes you feel like you are on a lake escape! The space was ample for two families with small children and we all felt very comfortable. We would recommend bringing a baby gate or two for any little ones still learning to climb stairs. The yard calls for yard games and creates a perfect playground for kids and adults alike! The rocky beach is perfect for exploration; you will want to spend every minute on the patio or at the waters edge! John was a wonderful host and very easy to communicate with. We just can’t say enough about this incredible property and hope you and your family enjoy it as much as we did!

Absolutely incredible vacation home!

We have rented in many places, and this was our favorite experience. The spot on the lake was lovely. The home was very clean and very well stocked. We were able to meet the host, who in addition to being extremely prompt in all communications, was also kind and friendly and generous.

Owasco Paradise

This was my third visit to the Finger Lakes and by far my favorite rental. The cottage was adorable and tastefully furnished. Great living space indoors, out on the porch, and by the lake. Had a hiccup on arrival that was remediated by fast responsiveness with the owner. The area was also my favorite of all the lakes explored. You are within 15-20” of everything. I will definitely be recommending this cottage to friends and family!

Beautiful property

Check-in and communication from the owner was awesome and easy. The home is perfect… right in the middle of a camp and a year round house. The property is huge with a very large dock that you can fish from… my son caught his first one! The beds are comfortable and we really loved staying there. We didn’t want to leave. We will definitely be booking here again.

Amazing Outdoor Space!

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week at this cozy cottage. John is an amazing host who even shared his streaming service account so we could watch football! Wonderful!

This was the perfect place for a summer getaway! The house had plenty of room for the two of us, our adult children, and 2 dogs. We greatly appreciated the wall A/C units, as the weather was quite warm while we were there. However, we spent most of our time outside enjoying the water, the views, the fire pit, and the patio. We brought fishing poles - the fishing was great off the end of the dock! If you want to walk into the lake from shore, you probably want some sort of footwear, as it’s a bit rocky right by the edge. However, you don’t need them if you walk in from the steps on the dock, as the bottom is much softer there. Our host, John, was great - very responsive to the couple of questions we had and even mailed us an item we left behind by mistake. Very relaxing getaway cottage on a quiet and peaceful stretch of the lake. Would come back again!

Beautiful lakefront property

Beautiful property located on Owasco Lake. The lake front is amazing and the pictures reflect very well just how wonderful it is! Very peaceful. Shallow water area and large lot, great for children and dogs. Conveniently located close to Auburn and Skaneateles. Owner is very responsive. Great back porch where we enjoyed all our meals. Highly recommend.

We loved this incredible classic lake home

We celebrated my husband’s 70 th birthday party at this gorgeous lakefront home. It was open, airy, bright and clean. I can’t say enough about how pristine and roomy the home and property were for our family gathering. We have decided to return next summer for at least a week as this was only a 2 night stay . Loved , loved , loved this relaxing retreat!

A great find!

This cozy cottage was well kept, and the host was very accommodating and easy to reach. The views were amazing! We took full advantage of the kayaks and paddleboards, as well as the fire ring and new grill. The porch was also a perfect place to cuddle up and catch up with family on the rainy night. This is everything we were hoping for in a lake house!

Kids never once said they were bored

This is a true lake house. Property is right on the east side of the lake, water is crystal clear and sunsets are amazing. Where the property sits is almost in a cove with a rock bottom in about 4 feet of calm water. The cottage was as advertised, ample space for the people we had. It was clean and welcoming. The kayaks were an added bonus!!
