Summary:
Set high above Onetangi and surrounded by olive groves and vineyard rows, Cypress Ridge Estate is a private rural retreat with wide sea and countryside views. The estate combines generous indoor and outdoor living with a peaceful setting close to Onetangi Beach and neighbouring vineyards.
The Space:
Cypress Ridge Estate sits within a working olive grove and vineyard, with native bush and open land stretching toward the sea. The main house is arranged around a large, open living and dining area designed for shared time together. A wood-burning fireplace anchors the space, while large glass doors open to a covered outdoor lounge with a second fireplace, creating a sheltered area for year-round use.
The kitchen is fully equipped and practical, set up for shared cooking, long lunches, and relaxed dinners that flow easily between indoors and out. The outdoor living areas are positioned to take in the views across the estate and toward the water.
The main house includes three bedrooms, two with ensuite bathrooms. Each bedroom opens toward the surrounding landscape and is set up for comfort and privacy rather than formality.
A separate guest cottage sits a short walk from the main house and provides additional space and privacy. The cottage includes a king bedroom, bathroom, small kitchen, and a living area with a fireplace. An outdoor bath is positioned among the olive trees and is for exclusive guest use.
Guests are welcome to explore the grounds, including the olive grove, vineyard rows, native bush tracks, and garden areas. The estate is a working property and offers a quiet rural setting rather than a manicured resort environment.
The beach is close by. Onetangi Beach is approximately a ten-minute walk downhill and offers a long stretch of sand, calm swimming conditions, and beachfront dining.

The Neighborhood:
From Cypress Ridge Estate, the best of Waiheke unfolds in every direction. The estate sits high above Onetangi, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, with views that run all the way to the sea.
Just down the hill, Onetangi Beach offers 2.5 kilometres of soft white sand, perfect for morning walks, a swim before breakfast, or lunch by the water. Ki Māha and Three Seven Two sit right on the beachfront, both serving exceptional island dining.
Moments from the property, Casita Miro is a local favourite, a hillside vineyard and restaurant serving Spanish-inspired tapas and Mediterranean dishes made with produce from their own kitchen garden. The setting is beautiful, framed by vines and art, and the service feels personal and relaxed. Enjoy a long lunch with a bottle of Miro Vineyard wine, or stay for their curated wine and sherry tastings, it’s a meal that lingers with you long after you’ve left.
You’re also within easy walking distance to Stonyridge, Te Motu, and Obsidian Vineyards, all award-winning wineries offering tastings, shared plates, and garden-style dining. Each has its own character, Stonyridge for its famous Larose and long lunches, Te Motu for its tranquil courtyard, and Obsidian for small-batch wines poured just metres from the vines.
Tantalus Estate, a short drive away, offers one of the island’s most refined dining experiences, with its exceptional degustation lunch highly recommended. For something more casual, stop at The Heke Kitchen, Brewery & Distillery, known for craft beer, local spirits, and live music on summer Fridays.
Groceries and essentials are close by in Ostend, and Oneroa Village is a short drive for boutique shopping, galleries, and dinner by the bay.
Getting Around:
Getting around from Cypress Ridge Estate is simple. The Matiatia passenger ferry terminal is about a 15-minute drive from the property, and regular bus routes (50A and 50B) connect the ferry to Onetangi Beach and the island’s main villages.
If you’re travelling without a car, it’s easy to get around. Buses run regularly, linking most beaches and vineyards, and the ride itself is part of the island experience, relaxed, friendly, and filled with views. The main route passes through Vineyard Valley, with stops right outside many of Waiheke’s best wineries, perfect for tastings, long lunches, and letting someone else take care of the driving.
For a change of pace, Oneroa Village is a 10-minute drive away for boutique shopping, art galleries, and dinner by the water.
E-bikes and car hire are easy to arrange if you’d like to explore further, and there’s ample on-site parking at the estate. However you travel, every route winds through vines and sea views — the kind of journey that makes getting there part of the holiday
