This cosy & luxurious house which has all modern amenities (including a very comfortable memory foam mattress in the double bedroom) is situated in a beautiful medieval village in the Valle del Lucido, (valley of the light) in the heart of Lunigiana, land of the moon. There are various hiking trails deep into the mountains, for the adventurous, waterfalls can also be found along some trails. Nearby, at the bottom of the village, you will also find Acqua nera next to the river with salted & black water, apparently with exceptional health properties. However there is also a rustic bar, under the pines trees, which is extremely reasonably priced. Also nearby you can find Equi terme, a natural thermal spa ‘town’. Which has a grotto & caves to explore, booking in advance is recommended. Although the water is not hot, the temperature can be between 17 & 27 degrees, so it is very refreshing, in summer. The area is very quiet, unspoilt & away from the main tourist areas, although the most popular ones (for example the cinque terre) of the region are reachable by car. A very peaceful rural, rustic & romantic retreat. For those wanting to return to nature & reset their internal clock, if you need a change from the hustle & bustle of life in the fast lane, your heart & soul will love the peace, tranquillity & serenity of this absolute gem! There is also a small Romeo & Juliet balcony to relax on & reflect, with stunning views across the valley, including a view of the castle ruins. At night stargazing is a real treat, as there is so little light pollution, it is the perfect way to spend an evening relaxing. In addition there is a shared courtyard outside the property with some shade, making it fabulous for some alfresco dining, whether it is morning, noon or night.
Although I do recommend hiring a car to explore the local area, to maximise the experience, the property is also reachable via the local train station in the main village & one can also find there amongst other things an award winning restaurant Da remo, which serve local dishes of very high quality, yet at very affordable prices.
