Cozy cottage w/pool in convenient Highland Park!

Newly delisted after a two year break! Wooded and private central Austin guesthouse with convenient access to all areas of Austin. Our cozy studio guest house is located in a small cul-de-sac in the Highland Park West neighborhood, only 5 miles from downtown Austin. We're in walking distance to a great coffee shop/bakery, book store, gym, an amazing massage place, a park, a grocery store and shopping centers, and a few wonderful restaurants.

The cottage is across the driveway from our main house, and there is plenty of street parking. We have a saltwater pool, a hammock, and plenty of shade in the back yard!

The studio area has a queen-sized bed, a TV with antenna and a Roku with Netflix, Amazon, HBO, etc. apps. There is a window unit a/c and space heaters.

The bathroom is small, but has all of the essentials, including toiletries and hair dryer. There are also two cozy hotel robes, bath towels, and beach towels (for the pool).

There isn’t a full kitchen (no dishwasher or sink), but there is a mini-fridge with freezer, microwave, toaster/toaster oven, keurig, dishes, and utensils. Instacart and Favor also deliver here, which is a great convenience. We provide a few things to get you started: toilet paper, paper towels, water bottles, and trash bags.

Guests are welcome to use our back yard (porch, pool, etc). The yard is fenced in for our dogs, so we require both back gates to be shut at all times.
During your stay at this guesthouse, you'll be within walking distance of Mount Bonnell.

Michelle was a terrific host. The apartment had everything anyone could need. I had a small problem with the Internet and she replied immediately to fix it. I stayed over NYE and she dropped off bubbly to celebrate. Fabulous!

Cozy Cottage

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in this sweet & cozy cottage. It was the perfect size for just the two of us. It was clean & peaceful and was stocked with all the essentials needed. It was especially sweet of Michelle to leave us a nice bottle of wine. It was a nice suprise to come back to outside our door after a long day of walking.

Great Place to Stay - but Not Stay (i.e. Hangout)

The apartment is great as a place to stay, but not hangout there like in a Hotel. With 1 bed, I don't see it as a place to bring kids or even spend time at the pool (while nice to have, did not seem to be a place to just hangout and enjoy). Facilities are good (fridge, coffee, microwave, etc.) to get you going in the morning - and the area is great (coffee shops, grocery store, etc. - but should be viewed as more of a good place to sleep. ron from kansas

Enjoyed our stay

We really enjoyed our stay and sitting out in the backyard enjoying the lovely Texas weather and scenery. The location was amazing. Easy to get downtown and come back. It was well stocked with water, and Michelle left us a bottle of wine to enjoy as well. Michelle was an amazing house. The communication was nothing short of spectacular. We will be back again.

This has to be illegal

1. Host never communicated with me. Now VRBO IS ignoring me. 2. The property was the worst ever. Dilapidated. Messy, cluttered and filthy. 3. I gotta sue to get my money. I stayed one night the door was unsecured. Never Again. Don't walk Run guys!

As advertised

Stayed here on my own instead of paying similar for hotel room, and it was perfect for that. Definitely cozy but bed was comfy, neighborhood was nice and host was responsive during stay. Cold (upper 30s to low 40s) at night, so I had to use the provided plug-in heaters to warm it up a bit. Overall good experience. Would come back if it was just me.

Very cozy and low-cost option for Austin

My husband and I stayed in this property for our recent honeymoon to Austin. Overall, we enjoyed the property. It was in a very nice neighborhood, and we felt safe walking to different areas nearby. There are quite a few things very near to do; however, there were also a few bus stops very close for those that wish to travel to other parts of the city since this is a more residential/quiet area. We used a combination of the bus and ride-shares to get around. I know the description tells you the square footage and mentions it is a small place, but prepare yourself because 300 sq ft is less space than you think. Space wasn't really an issue for us though since we spent most of our time exploring the city. There was still a good bit of space for storage, as well as the essentials we needed. We did spend one day inside watching tv due to very bad weather, and although the bed looks nice and is decent sized, it is not the most comfortable. Michelle was pleasant to deal with and checked to see if we needed anything. We thought this place was an awesome value for the cost, and we would definitely stay here again once it is warm enough to use the pool!
