I know that the hotel is old, but make an effort to get the room and the linens clean (cobwebs) and maintain the condition of the toilet and sink. The staff is friendly though.

I was really excited about staying at this hotel - it looked so charming on the website. The room is super cute. Unfortunately for us, there was no hot water, which we were made aware of at checkin. Being on our limited budget, we decided to stay anyway and not shower in the morning. We looked forward to a relaxing hour of TV before bed. But the TV didn’t work either. Looking for a refund of some sort as we booked through Expedia. I am hopeful that will happen. Perhaps the hotel will be better prepared for guests in the future.

Bare Bones, Pricey, Comfortable

The hotel was better priced than others on Catalina but don’t mistake that for cheap! At $500 for two nights (with a discount code) it was extremely bare bones. Not one amenity. No water provided but water in tap unsafe to drink. We kept our bottles filled at a neighboring hotel. The bathroom felt like a hostel with scratchy towels and a tiny shower. The TV wasn’t available. No AC. However, the room was clean and WiFi worked well. The bed was super comfy and on the top floor we had a beautiful view of the ocean, even from the bed. The room was large and the location was excellent. We walked every single place in Avalon easily!

We had a nice stay, but they need to replace the old and defective shower valve. It was very difficult to get the water to run hot correctly. My wife got scolded before she figured it out.
