Apartment “Zur Alten Scheune II” with Terrace, Garden, and Wi-Fi

The eastern part of the old barn was expertly converted into a holiday apartment between 2023 and 2026, with careful attention to historical and eco-friendly building principles. Only sustainable materials were used, sourced mainly from regional and ecological suppliers. Traditional craftsmanship played a key role: hempcrete was used as natural insulation and as a base for clay plaster. The oak parquet flooring is oiled, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Tadelakt, a Moroccan lime plaster technique, was applied in the kitchen and bathroom for water- and dirt-resistant surfaces. These natural materials keep the rooms pleasantly cool in summer and naturally warm in winter. Our aim was to preserve the barn’s character while embracing ecological and social values.



The apartment offers 50 m² of space for up to 4 guests, with two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. High-speed Wi-Fi, a workspace, baby cot, and high chair are provided. You can check in flexibly via self-check-in.



The barn is located on the edge of a village district of Balingen. In the picturesque cottage garden with herbs and flowers, you can experience a variety of nature. The garden is designed as a wildlife-friendly space with different habitats, natural stone walls, hedges, and a pond. Berry bushes and fruit trees invite you to snack during harvest time. Feel free to try our homemade jam and honey. A covered outdoor seating area and barbecue are available for shared use. One pet is welcome by prior arrangement for an extra fee.
