Honest Review: “Lakeview” CottageThe name Lakeview feels a bit misleading. The main view from the deck overlooks a rock pit, and while you can glimpse the lake through the trees, it’s quite distant.Upon entering, you’ll notice a floor air conditioner in the kitchen, venting through a window. The main living space relies on two ceiling fans—which also serve as the only overhead lighting on the first floor. Unfortunately, during our stay, with outdoor temperatures at 93 degrees, it was still 82 degrees inside. The only effectively cooled space was the upstairs bedroom, which has a window AC unit. The bathrooms could use some attention. The main shower has two fixtures: a handheld sprayer that didn’t work and a small high-pressure nozzle with very low water pressure. Additionally, neither bathroom has ventilation.Regarding the water—this property uses well water, which has a strong odor. We were only made aware of this the morning of check-in, and it did affect our comfort level with using the water. We also noticed cleaning concerns, including hair left in the shower, despite a 125 cleaning fee.Overall, we found the property did not meet our expectations in terms of comfort, amenities, and value for the price. We had booked for two nights but chose not to stay even one full night. If ratings allowed, we’d give this a zero.
