Room was perfect size for our family of 7. Had 2 queen beds in the loft and a separate bedroom. We had our own kitchen. Minimal cutlery and pans, old microwave and dishwasher though working as expected. Room was pretty old. Stayed for 4 nights What we didn't like was the cleaning. Our beds were made and towels refreshed daily but the floors were not vacuumed, dining table was not wiped. Our balcony was only cleaned when we asked it to be cleaned. Felt more like an airbnb where you have to clean everything yourselves. The facilities were great for kids. They have a playzone for smaller kids and slide/pools to entertain them.

I asked to purchase early checkin, but they would only offer it for 2 hours early, and with no guarantee. They were no full, so i was very disappointed that there was zero interest in accomodating an early checkin.

Excellent customer service; very quick and helpful with my requests. Very happy with my stay and I would stay there again. Clean and cozy. You also get free bus passes to travel around town; very reliable transit service by the way. I strongly recommend public transit. It's packed there; parking and driving around can be very difficult, so the bus passes are very handy.

Douglas Fir Chalet is really well located with access to a bus that goes into the main Banff area. The only thing I was really sad about was the showerhead - the water pressure was so high, it felt like needles hitting you. The water slides were an incredible surprise! The downstairs play area was also a real bonus for families with kids. It is hard to get to certain areas of the building because of the way the separate parts are all connected.

The property was very outdated and it was falling apart on the inside. Door lock was so loose you could probably yank it from the door frame. The room had very strong smells of cigarette smoke. The bedsheets had holes in them. The bath faucet was falling apart. I could go on, but the worst was the apathy of the staff. I complained about the lack of cleaning and resupply of toiletries on the second day, they didn’t even apologize or any offer of compensation. It’s a shame they can charge the rates they do because of the Banff location. I would never stay there again and for anyone considering it, please look elsewhere.

The area was fantastic in the more secluded side of town. Rooms were great and were clean. Bus pass included was a game changer. The only slight con was our rooms weren’t restocked on towels during our 2 night stay but it wasn’t a huge issue

Disappointed for such a great area. Reeked of smok

The hotel is very dated and uncomfortable. There was also a clear smell of smoke in the room. We travelled during peak summer season and expected to pay higher prices, but for the high price we paid, we were disappointed by the poor quality of the hotel. We would not stay at the Douglas Fir again in the future unless there was a material upgrade in the ENTIRE hotel.
