I walked in to 2 very friendly girls at the front desk and the delicious aroma of chicken chili. The bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast well stocked. I will definitely be back.

They're now charging a "service fee" of $8.00 if you don't book your room directly through the hotel, i.e., use a third party such as Hotels.com instead. It was charged at the front desk when I checked in although our room billing was handled by Hotels.com. It kind of defeats the purpose for using third parties.

Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a charming rustic feel. The entire hotel was well maintained, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Breakfast offered plenty of options, and the added touch of a hot beef stew in the lobby on a cold day was such a thoughtful surprise. Highly recommend the Black Bear Inn!
