About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Evergreen Escape - 5BR Banner Elk Cabin · Hot Tub · Game Room · 3 Min to ...
Some mountain houses are for couples. Evergreen Escape is for the whole crew!
Hidden in the trees in a quiet Banner Elk neighborhood — but barely a mile from town — this three-story, five-bedroom home sleeps fourteen and gives everyone room to breathe. Come off the slopes, drop your boots at the door, and let the house do the rest: a soak in the private hot tub, an evening around the deck fire table, a movie in the basement theater room, dinner around a table that seats twelve.
THE SETTING
Evergreen Escape sits perfectly centered in the High Country. It’s about ten minutes to Beech Mountain and twelve to Sugar Mountain — so you can ski two resorts in one trip — and six minutes to the restaurants, shops, and breweries of downtown Banner Elk, with Lees-McRae College less than a mile from your door. The lot itself is wooded and private, with fall color that turns the whole neighborhood gold and deer and wild turkey that wander through most mornings. There are no mountain-view crowds here, just trees, quiet, and three decks to enjoy them from.
ROOM TO SPREAD OUT
Five bedrooms across three levels keep families and friends comfortable:
- Main-level king suite — no stairs, ideal for grandparents
- Two upstairs queen bedrooms — one with an en-suite full bath, one with its own half bath
- Lower-level queen suite with a private bath and mini-kitchenette — a little apartment of its own
- Bunk room with two twin-over-twin bunks — the kids will call it first
- Plus a game-room futon for overflow (sleeps 14 total)
Every bedroom has its own smart TV, and the freshly painted interior wears an easy mid-century-modern mountain look.
THE GATHERING SPACES
The open main level is where everyone lands — a living room anchored by a cozy gas fireplace and a window-seat reading nook, a dining table for twelve under a brass sputnik chandelier, and a fully equipped kitchen with an island, drip coffee and a Keurig, and everything you need to cook for a crowd. Downstairs, the finished basement is pure fun: a game and movie room with a projector movie wall, Pac-Man and Mortal Kombat arcade cabinets, a foosball table, giant Connect Four, and a deep bench of board games, cards, and puzzles for rainy afternoons.
BRAND-NEW COMFORT
The home was just updated with central air conditioning (new in 2026) and a freshly painted interior — so it stays cool and bright in summer and cozy and warm in ski season. Fast WiFi and a dedicated desk make it easy to sneak in a little work; live TV and streaming keep everyone entertained at night.
THE OUTDOORS
Three decks wrap the home at different levels, so there’s always a spot in the sun or the shade. Gather around the gas fire table under café lights on the upper deck, fire up the propane grill on the side deck, and end the night with a soak in the private hot tub, set in its own tree-ringed clearing below the house. By day, let the kids roam a wooded, wildlife-filled lot.
FAMILY-READY
Traveling with little ones is simple here: a Pack ’n Play, high chair, booster seat, baby bathtub, and a stash of kids’ toys, books, and games are all on hand.
THE AREA
You’re minutes from skiing, snow tubing, and ice skating at Sugar and Beech; the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster; hiking and photography at Grandfather Mountain State Park; and the galleries, breweries, cafés, and shopping of downtown Banner Elk. Lees-McRae College is under a mile away — ideal for move-in and parents’ weekends, campus visits, and graduation. Boone and App State are a half-hour away. Spring wildflowers, summer festivals, blazing fall leaves, winter snow — this corner of the Blue Ridge is a four-season basecamp.
Self check-in with a smart lock, free parking for up to five cars, and a pet-friendly policy round it out. Come make Evergreen Escape the mountain trip everyone remembers.
