There is also a 6-acre paddock for your canine companion to play freely in.

Tear yourselves away from the astounding views to enter your charming, single-storey home-from-home. Find yourselves in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with a flagstone floor, high vaulted ceiling and exposed stone and timberwork. Stoke up the wood burner after bracing winter walks then settle back on the soft seating to toast your toes. Unpack any fresh, local provisions you have bought then whip up a tasty meal to enjoy at the table, against the magnificent backdrop of your undulating surroundings. Make fresh coffee in the machine then stream your favourite show via the Smart TV. When darkness closes in and you are ready for bed, head off to either the double bedroom, which has a door to the garden, or the twin. The family bathroom offers the choice of a shower or a bath. Step out into the sunshine to make the most of the scenery and the serenity. Take your four-legged friend to run in the shared field or try out the dog agility area, for an additional charge. There is private parking here for two cars.

While away an afternoon at exquisite Eggleston Hall Gardens, 1.5 miles away. Head into Barnard Castle to potter in the shops, dine out in a friendly pub and wander the fortress ruins set high above the river.
