Charming, Comfortable, and Perfectly Located

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Le Lion d'Or. The location couldn't be better—an easy walk to shops, restaurants, bars, historical sites, and even a grocery store. The hotel itself was quiet, clean, and very comfortable, with a warm atmosphere clearly geared toward an American clientele. The on-site restaurant was a highlight: elegant setting and truly excellent food. Although there’s no elevator, the staff kindly helped us get our luggage upstairs, which we appreciated. It’s something to keep in mind for those with mobility issues, but it didn’t detract from our experience. Our only regret? That we didn’t stay longer. Highly recommend this lovely hotel in the heart of Bayeux.

Comfortable hotel in a great location

Comfortable hotel with friendly reception staff in a great location that is handy for restaurants, cafes etc and only a few minutes walk to the Tapestry Museum and Cathedral. The room was spacious and comfortable.

There are many things that are wonderful about the Hotel Le Lion d'Or, but I must first complement the staff. Everyone we met were so warm and friendly. We visited in January and the fire was always burning which was pleasant. The room was spacious with everything needed. The restaurant was outstanding and we highly recommend it.

Beautiful hotel and the staff was so kind and helpful. A lot of beautiful photos and memorabilia in that old hotel but they keep it immaculate. I would highly recommend it.

A Beauty in Normandy

Hotel Le Lion d'Or is Amazing! A complete representation of the Normandy area, beautiful. Main entrance inviting nostalgic and warm. With a very helpful staff. Our suite beautifully decorated with a cozy soft bed. Thank you for a lovely stay. Restaurant la Table du Lion divine dinner, and wine served with impeccable service. Wonderful local cheese, breads, and amazing dessert.

Loved everything about this quaint property except the shower was dirty. The grout needed to be redone. It was filthy and black from mildew. Other than that, it was great.

The hotel was located in a wonderful spot on the Main Street in Bayeaux near dining and shops. The breakfast was also plentiful. However, we had issues with very loud guests outside our rooms until midnite and they were smoking. With our windows open, we could hear and smell everything. The cleaning crew was also not consistent: one day we got no toilet paper, another day we got only one towel, and another day, our trash was not emptied and the can were very small. There was also the biggest spider I have seen in a hotel directly over our bed and also these small flies that buzzed around, up to 5-8 each day.
