For a solo or romantic getaway in rural North Yorkshire, stay at this rustic upside-down property with a quirky curved exterior wall. It’s around 1 mile from the chocolate-box village of Crakehall, known for its charming green and friendly local pub, and 3 from the historic market town of Bedale (3 miles), where you’ll find a weekly market (Tuesdays), museums, antique shops, inviting cafés and pubs serving tasty local beers. There’s plenty to do nearby, from the stunning Constable Burton Hall Gardens (6.5 miles) with its parkland and woodland walks, to the Georgian town of Richmond (10.5 miles) and its impressive castle ruins. At Masham (8.5 miles) you can visit the famous Black Sheep Brewery, while at the Forbidden Corner (14 miles) you’ll love exploring underground passages await exploration. And if you’re here for the hikes, the majestic Nidderdale National Landscape starts just 8 miles west.
On arrival, step into the property and be welcomed by a bright entrance hall, which leads to a comfortable and spacious ground-floor bedroom, complete with an en-suite bathroom and WC for convenience. From the entrance hall, a wooden staircase leads up to a stunning open-plan living area, where exposed wooden beams and high ceilings create a sense of space. Everything you need for relaxing is in the one room – a lounge, kitchen and dining area – which you can heat with the cosy wood burner if it’s chilly. Stylish decorative touches like a feature wall, wooden flooring and carefully selected ornaments all contribute to the charm.
Outside, you’ll have a gravelled courtyard with a patio area, garden furniture and a BBQ for those fair-weather feasts. You can also access a shared grassed area, shared enclosed paddock where your pet can stretch her legs, and shared bike store for if you’re on two wheels.
