Beautiful property just one block off the water and the fish market. What really stood out was the amazing breakfast, they had basically everything one could want. On the second day I had a very early start in order to catch the train, breakfast was open at 6:30 which was perfect.

There appears to be multiple Clarion Hotels in Bergen. This review is for the property on Rosenkrantzgaten. The location is exceptional, right on the old town by the harbor, part of the Bryggen area. It is an easy walk to everywhere in town. The rooms are very small by US standards, but they are clean. The bathrooms have an unusual feature - one I have never seen anywhere else - that you don’t think you would ever need until you experience it: heated floors! That was very welcome after a long day walk. The hotel’s breakfast is also incredible, one of the best buffet breakfasts I have seen in Norway, however, they start at 8, too late if you have a whole day activity or an early flight. They do give a brown bag to go, but the contents is very limited. Now, on to the negatives: if your room is facing the street, and you are on second or third floor, there is much too noise coming from the street. The shampoo and soap are in refillable dispensers (good for the environment, but very difficult to use, and their house brand is not very good). The beds have only half sized comforters, way too small. The “queen” bed is in fact two twin beds., which separate very easily and does not function properly ad a queen bed.

Perfect locatoin

The location of this hotel in Bergen can not be beat! I was in walking distance of everything and it so refreshing to not have to Uber everywhere. The breakfast was great as well! Lots of options and the breakfast staff was lovely. For the rooms - it is a bit outdated but the beds are super comfortable and for being in the middle of everything it was quiet. My only critique was that the shower situation was challenging. The shower "head" barely stuck out from the wall so I couldn't stand under the water. They did have a handheld shower head to assist but beware of getting water everywhere or being cold. I would say a bathroom update is needed. I was able to look over the outdated rooms considering that the hotel was so perfectly situation in the city.

This place is old. Rooms are poorly lit, and my rondo on the 4th floor provided NO privacy from the facing windows unless the heavy curtains were drawn, exacerbating the lighting problem. Used for a few days prior to a cruise, and several other guests on board made the exact same complaint about the property as I experienced. This is used by hurtigruten for pre cruise accommodation, and geeze did i hear horror stories if things went wrong and hotel disdain from staff on site. Rad Blue just a little further skiing is a better option, as I suspect countless other properties in this immediate area would provide. Average stay.
