Very cute, historic house. The area seemed pretty safe and plenty of walkable food options and late night eats. The room did get a little hot and the beds were a bit hard but overall a good stay.
Very cozy and quiet stay. Right in the center of town. Has a private door code and locks on your private bedroom door. Very safe and comfortable new beds
First off, they changed ownership right before our stay and stopped serving breakfast. In an email, they offered $8 off per day due to this change, but we never received this discount. I even replied to the email after our stay and received no response. Second, I chose this hotel for the historic feel. Unfortunately, the new owners have modernized the furnishings including super firm memory foam beds that hold heat and feel like sleeping on a brick. I will not be staying at this hotel again due to the uncomfortable beds and loss of historic charm.
My overall stay was fine. The house is conveniently located to several restaurants and easy access to city sites.
However my stay started with a little stress and poor contact. I did not receive my access code ahead of time, so I was unable to enter the house. My attempts at calling the owners went straight to voicemail, with no return call. I also was not informed of the change in ownership or breakfast- no longer being offered. I might have considered a change in accomodation.
A kind neighbor gave me access to her Wi-Fi at which time I finally received an email with access code and other helpful info. When I responded to the email I did receive a prompt text response with apologies and a promise to compensate me for my troubles.
The house is charming, with so much character.
I hope they can return to making it a true B&B and offer the full experience. Other guests felt the same.
Exquisite late Victorian home; new mid-modern furnishings are clash in my opinion; wonderful area; glad we got to experience this magnificent architecture; probably won't be back.
This is a stunning Victorian property. We booked because it’s a unique piece of history. I hope the new owners do not try and modernise it as every guest here tonight came here because it’s an authentic Guilded age mansion. I didn’t love the modern furniture. The area is brilliant with many beautiful restaurants around in walking distance. I had a really great time and would recommend to people who like old architecture and history. I also liked the 24 hour coffee bar.
My husband and I stayed at the Hassinger Daniels house a few years ago for a quick trip and absolutely loved it. The house is magnificent with kitschy fun themes and antiques everywhere. The owner was darling. She took so much pride in showing us around the house and making us feel at home. We loved the Camelot themed room and knew we would stay here again! When we had a trip come up, we instantly knew we were going to book this awesome house again. We chose the "Enchanted Turret Suite" because it was billed as the room for honeymooners! We received an email before our stay saying that the house had sold and they were doing updates that should be finished by the time we arrived, which is understandable. They also no longer serve breakfast so we were getting an $8 credit in exchange. When we arrived our heart sank, all of the adorable decor was GONE! The entry foyer which was once grand is now full of fake midcentury modern inspired inexpensive furniture. All of the personality was gone and our room was a similar situation. The grand poster bed and fancy bed in the turret were replaced with rock hard memory foam beds from Ikea. All of the personality of the Hassinger Daniels house was gone and our hearts were broken. The TV didn't work, there were no lamps on the nightstands, it was cold, there was no staff around for help. Instead of being a cool old themed experience, it's now just an old drafty house with cheap furniture. There are much cooler places to stay in Birmingham.
Just dug through my email... Two days ago It seems I was sent an email that the property was under new ownership and undergoing renovations/changes. It seems everything down to the furniture that was and is still in the photos of the property was replaced. The charm/vibe and alur does not seem to be here anymore as the Victorian furniture in our room has been replaced with stuff that reminds me of ikea. The specific room we booked looks nothing like the photos. We were looking forward to the breakfast (part of the bed and breakfast) and even that is cancelled.
Didn't catch the email that was sent. Two days before my arrival which is on me. But regardless, the listing and photos should still be updated. We booked a bed and breakfast and this dramatic of a change should have warranted a phone call.
I don't remember the last time a left a negative review for anything as I really don't. But after a long day and even longer week just blows to get off the road from a three and a half hour drive to a rug pull.
Loved the Victorian details. The rooms are modern and fresh.Great parking. Will return.

Disliked: Staff & service
Ghost mansion B&B
Came to Birmingham to attend the Katt Williams Heaven on Earth comedy event at the Legacy Arena on February 8th. Get to the mansion at 4pm, and the front door is locked. Doorbell doesn't work which is weird for a business that claims to have staff on the premises. Call the main customer service number to the mansion and it goes to voicemail. I never received a callback from the mansion staff on Feb 8th to get in the mansion to check in at all! My girlfriend was totally unsatisfied with the unprofessional service by this establishment towards us for our 1st Bed and Breakfast experience. Totally lost $148.33 and ended up at a national hotel chain that same day with free happy hour and breakfast amenities. I will definitely stick to better professional hotel/B&B establishments in the future.
A beautiful, restored Bed & Breakfast. Well maintained and clean. The owner showed true southern hospitality. Lovely breakfast served in the morning. There were plenty of dining options within walking distance.
Throw back to an earlier time-everywhere you looked there were memorabilia from the early 1900s The hostess has a keen eye to detail and hospitality. Loved the excellent breakfast served each morning and the opportunity to connect with other guests around the table. I would not consider it to be a kid friendly place, because there are so many delicate/fragile pieces around the mansion. We would definitely return and stay here again.
