There are multiple established walks, public footpaths, bridle ways and cycle routes that run directly through the village and out into the nearby valleys and fells and unspoilt natural woodland. Stanhope is also the current terminus for the Weardale Railway, a heritage railway that operates primarily at weekends all year round and runs from Bishop Auckland, with Stations at Frosterley and Wolsingham. A little further afield but still within easy driving distance, guests will be able to visit the natural beauty of Cumbria and the Lake District, the Durham Dales, Northumberland and Newcastle.
