From the sun-drenched private deck to the family-friendly amenities, this home provides a tranquil escape with easy access to the best of Black Hills and New Norfolk.
The Space
This expansive chalet features a versatile two-level layout, comfortably accommodating up to five guests.
The ground floor offers a welcoming master bedroom with a queen bed, alongside a bright open-plan living and dining area. A fully equipped kitchenette and bathroom ensure all the comforts of home.
Upstairs, the loft-style second bedroom provides additional sleeping space with one queen and one single bed, ideal for families or small groups.
The interior is filled with natural light from large windows that frame views of the rolling hills and nearby dam. Step outside to the fenced deck complete with a BBQ and outdoor dining area, perfect for enjoying sunset views while the kids make use of the toy box and outdoor play space.

A car is essential for staying at Black Hills to explore the surrounding region effectively. The property is approximately a 10-minute drive from New Norfolk and 45 minutes from Hobart. The driveway is gravel but well-maintained and suitable for standard 2WD vehicles.
Shared Facilities & Grounds
Beyond the comfort of your private chalet, guests have access to shared facilities and expansive grounds designed to enhance the rural experience. Whether you are enjoying a quiet morning among the gum trees or preparing for a day of exploring Tasmania, these spaces are available for all guests.

A dedicated external laundry hut is equipped with a modern washing machine, dryer, ironing board, and iron, ideal for longer stays.
Communal BBQ & Dining Area:
In addition to your private deck, a larger sheltered communal dining space is available. It features a gas BBQ and a spacious outdoor table, perfect for gathering with fellow guests and enjoying a meal in a different part of the property.
Note to guests: Please ensure the laundry door is securely latched after use to prevent local wildlife from entering.
While the chalet was previously part of the “Helmat Farmstay,” the property no longer operates as a farm stay. It now offers a peaceful and private bush retreat experience.

Respect the peace: Please keep noise to a minimum between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
No smoking indoors: Smoking is permitted outdoors only. Please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.
Water supply: The chalet is supplied with filtered tank water. Please use water wisely.
Septic system: Do not flush anything other than human waste and toilet paper (for example, no wipes or feminine hygiene products). Do not pour grease or oil down the kitchen drain.
Treat with care: Please look after the home as you would your own.
