Friendly, comfortable, old-school Blackpool hotel

I was taking a break from my hectic London life and wanted a couple of days away. I also wanted to ride the new coaster at the Pleasure Beach which was the main reason I chose Blackpool. The hotel is just South of the Pleasure Beach, around a 5-minute walk. It is away from the main centre - pretty much at the start of the illuminations - and therefore more peaceful but it is right opposite the promenade and there are several local restaurants within a 10-minute walk. I imagine it would be easy to get a tram to the main action within a few minutes or it would be a reasonable walk. It was easy to park in the hotel’s car park although there were only a few spaces left when I arrived. But because of its location I think there wouldn’t be any problem to park in the street or adjoining public car park. The staff were very friendly, the room was very large and comfortable and there was a comfy bar and various lounges. The hotel was great value for money and the 5/5 scores I have afforded take the price into considerations . It’s not the most modern hotel - if you want that then stay in the new Hilton next door and pay three times the price - and I would have liked a basic shower gel/shampoo to be provided - but if you want a traditional and friendly Blackpool hotel at a very reasonable price then The Headlands is definitely worth considering. I will stay here again next time I’m in Blackpool.

Nice hotel good location

Clean, welcoming hotel

Hotel is in a great location near to the Pleasure Beach & close to a tram stop if you want to head further down the Front. It is very clean and the staff are lovely. The cooked breakfast was really good. Only downsides for us personally were the lack of heating control, our room was very warm, and the windows opened out very far with no safety latch which wasn't great with a little one.

Hotel was ok, we were happy with the staff, the breakfast etc. The room was ok, pretty basic but acceptable. It was good for a last minute break. The beds weren't very comfortable though. The staff were lovely and breakfast was nice.

Not Good

Ready for demolition lm afraid, the whole place was run down and generally in a very sorry state. The staff were pleasant on the plus side though

The Headlands Hotel, Blackpool

Pros: The staff and the food.

Cons: Lots of redecorating and not repairing with blocks of UPVC

Location: Location is on the South Shore not far from the Pleasure Beach. Tram stop just outside where you can purchase a 3 day Tram pass for £11.50.

Whilst the staff and the food were all excellent, the Hotel was in need of TLC. The lift was antiquated, the front door was still the small revolving door. If you were a bit hefty it would have been quite interesting. It certainly needs a lick of paint and decorating throughout. Electric plugs need to be in a place where they would be needed. I dried my hair sitting by the bed head as that was the nearest plug to the dressing table - at least 8ft away. All the furniture is very dark. On the good side, the staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic, cannot praise them enough. We even had our Evening Meals there. What value, brilliant. The Hotel is in such a fantastic position it would be worth spending the money.
