This was an extremely stressful and disappointing experience. This listing is presented on Hotels.com in a way that led us to believe it was a hotel-style accommodation. Only after booking did the host send a long PDF explaining that this is a private room in a shared apartment, along with numerous restrictive rules that were not clearly disclosed beforehand, including guest limitations, shared spaces, ID submission via WhatsApp, and restrictions regarding children. The most frustrating part is that the host’s own written policy states that if a guest booked by mistake thinking this was a hotel or private apartment, a full refund is allowed if the booking platform is contacted within a specific time window. Hotels.com was contacted within that window. Despite this, the host refused to honor their own policy. The host later agreed in writing on the Hotels.com platform to issue a partial refund, then reversed course and denied it entirely when Hotels.com attempted to process it. Communication from the host was dismissive and accusatory, showing no effort to understand the situation. Hotels.com acknowledged seeing the written agreement but provided no resolution, repeatedly deferring to the host and offering no meaningful support. Do not rely on the support of the host or Hotels.com if an issue arises. Research this property very carefully and understand that it is not a legal hotel before booking.
