On the beach front, the pier has a Oceanarium and several beachfront bars and restaurants plenty of places to explore and try something different. A little to the west you can head towards the small peninsula of Sandbanks, known for its multimillion pound homes and its highly regarded beach with its spectacular views and fine golden sand. From here you can get a ferry to Brownsea Island, a fantastic National Trust site where red squirrels can be spotted for the nature lovers among you.

Dorset has many wonderful days out, drive the Jurassic Coast and enjoy many scenic walks and the iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. A little further afield head to Swanage and get a steam train to Corfe Castle, a thousand-year-old castle above the delightful town of the same name. A short drive away is the New Forest where you can go cycling, climb the treetops and see free roaming ponies, donkeys, and cattle.
