Looks really good from outside - beautifully maintained garden frontage leading down towards cliff top road. Inside: All recently renovated / redecorated, clean and smart. Some rooms are cheaply fitted out, but 'Premier' rooms much better. Customer service - variable: restaurant staff were defensive, bordering on being rude, when misinformation in the menu was brought to their attention. Late into our first night a very loud and over amplified musician was entertaining in one of the reception rooms which made sleep impossible. Next morning, as compensation, we were offered complimentary breakfast and upgraded to a 'Premier' room located well away from the reception rooms (where another rowdy event occurred on our 2nd night). This worked such that we heard no noise at all. We were informed that the hotel is very popular for large events and hence through most Friday & Saturday nights the hotel hosts gatherings usually with loud music.
Overall, we really enjoyed our 3 night stay and very much appreciated the manager's decision to upgrade our room so that we could enjoy a peaceful couple of days in a luxury.
Note: Parking costs an extra £15 / day unless you have Expedia VIP benefits.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
My recent experience of two nights at the Hotel Miramar was disappointing. I knew its an old former home & expected creaky floor boards, doors etc, but!
When I first checked in I specifically requested a quiet room which reception assured me the allocated room was.
Things were fine till about 8pm Friday evenwhen I finally discovered why I could hear other guests conversations from the hallway was due to a one inch gap under the guest room door, which if nothing else is a fire safety risk?
I tried to ignore this but when I started hearing feint conversations & someone dragging chairs across hard surfaces too, emanating from the wall adjacent my bed I asked for another room.
The helpful second receptionist duly showed me two other rooms suggesting the later on the second floor was the furtherest away from any sources of noise which I accepted. She kindly offered me a complimentary breakfast for the following morning too.
*** However, Saturday evening unbeknown the hotel held a 40th birthday party for some unknown external group, involving full blown techno/rave disco music heard throughout the entire hotel until gone just past midnight. NO one could ignore that!!!
I raised this with the reception next morning, who had no answer & became defensive even after I pointed out Hotel Miramar marketing pictures/literature fails to inform/show potential guests of the hotels private functions rooms, other than "Meeting!. Had it done so I would have chosen not to stay.
A great choice of hotel, as we were visiting our daughter at university. The hotel was very welcoming, clean and well appointed and we were easily able to walk into town

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
A bit tired
Room was clean and tidy, but very little sound insulation could hear the fan going in the bathroom from the room next door, and could clearly hear conversations of people walking past the room in the corridor outside.
The double bed was in fact 2 singles sipped together and was hard / uncomfortable.
Was shocked to discover that I had to pay an extra £15 for parking overnight, and actually took car and put it on the street which is free between 5pm and 9am
we booked last minute as we néded a hotel in Bournemouth and were parked just along the road.
the view from the bar, lounge out to the sea view was one of the positives of our short stay.
we were offered a room on the quiet side of the hotel due to there being a wedding reception being held that evening. it was explained that this was however a non refurbished room. we found the room clean and likeable, however it was warm, with no controls.as the radiators were turned off and cold, yeah go figure. thankfully there was a fan in the room that helped.
staff were great and we'd book again if we were visited another time.
Beautiful hotel and gardens, very friendly staff. Restaurant pricey with sometimes slow service. Meals, some very nice some mediocre. Room quality excellent, a really enjoyable stay.
Vey good location. Service checking in was very good.
Breakfast servive was very hit and miss. Not the best food and choices given the price. £17 for breakfast and you have to pay extra fora latte!!!
Very nice hotel is a great location which is accessible to anywhere you would want to go. Pleasantly surprised about how good the hotel was and all the amenities.
Hotel staff were absolutely great, especially front desk very welcoming!.
Would definitely stay again for next Bournemouth visits, bit of a classic British hotel feel.
I expected more for a four star hotel. The house is an old building, I heard every step from outside, but the room was renovated, it is beautiful inside. There is a little dust inside the room. I hope the room is cleaner. Other than that everything is great. The breach is nearby. It is great to stay here in summer time.
Food poor, not up to standard. TV tiny, old-fashioned, very limited choice of channels. Bathroom shower badly designed. This was for a wet room. Taking a shower made half the bathroom floor wet. Porterage unhelpful. I've loved the Miramar for many years. I wouldn't recommend it now and will not be returning.
