Front & back doors each have a large window without blinds/curtains, so you can see straight through the house: no privacy/security. We didn't dare leave valuables on the counters for someone to see from outside. Large window above the staircase also has no coverings, so you can stand on the street and see into the upstairs hallway and one bedroom. All the other windows had opaque, papery, roll-down blinds, so we could either shut them completely or let the whole world look inside (Venetian blinds would have been better for balancing sunlight with privacy). Bradenton seems to be a very sketchy town, so we didn't feel safe. You hear sirens now and again, and you see weirdos drive onto the grass across the road and go fishing in the canal/river. Passing traffic, both near and far, is noisy. A man looking like a kidnapper walked a dog, cat, and kitten down the sidewalk past our house and driveway. Other suspicious-looking characters and some normal people. The neighborhood seems a strange mix of poor and better-off. We always kept the house doors and our SUV locked, even when making trips to carry things in and out. Our driveway was between our house and another house, and that house had loud parties with lots of guest cars at least two nights we were there. The house is NOT new, but nicely remodeled for the most part. Old, cracked banister piece; excessive, gaudy decor, including two paintings of wading birds that looked like zombies. Shampoo/body wash caused allergies.
