## Emplacement
Located at 1326 meters altitude, at the confluence of five valleys, Briançon is the highest town in France. This town of art and history, fortified by Vauban in the 18th century, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Briançon boasts a remarkable array of military works, built between the 18th and 20th centuries to improve the town's defense system. The tour includes the upper town, or Vauban citadel, the very heart of Briançon, dominated by the Château Fort, and the surrounding fortifications of Fort des Salettes, Fort des Trois Têtes and Fort du Randouillet.
