The room was in good condition except the phone did not work the 4 days we were there we could not call reception after complaining three times one of the staff members an asian female just smiled, we found out later it was because the 3rd highest asian was staying there I think it was a poor excuse and they should have advised us that there was going to be limitations on the building due to this member of parliament visiting. Sorry but asians are very loyal to there own race but when it comes to Australians were they live they have very little respect I don’t appreciate how they handled the matter by just ignoring the situation. This did not solve my problem

A tired old hotel drastically in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was dysmal. Had to ask 4 times for our room |to be serviced. The attached steak/rib restaurant is vastly overpriced and decidedly average; the tables are just weird, being decorated with sexual animal cartoons. Utterly unfathomable.

We had a Story Bridge River View Suite. This is a great room with excellent views. It was spacious and quiet. The check in could have been better. We ordered room service on our last night and this did not turn up even after ringing through to check on how far away it might be. This was the only negative though. All the staff were pleasant and courteous. The buffet breakfast is great. The location is great. Close to river ferry and great dining options.

Pool and spa decent. Make sure you go pool before midday, after that the sun goes behind building and you will be in shade and cold. They gave me a free drink token for a bar that was closed the entire time I was staying in the hotel. That’s a new one. She even made a big deal about giving it to me when I checked in, despite knowing it was worthless. It’s a sad old hotel now, run into the ground. Shame cause the location is great.

My first meeting with staff at reception was less than great. A new staff member who was mainly by herself and didn’t really know what she was doing was not the best experience and both staff at counter were not very welcoming unlike the greeter and manager at the concierge desk who were both so lovely and helpful. My room was only partially set up, no towels or bath mat and no shampoo in the shower. After a phone call towels were delivered. The room had a lovely outlook over the river and bedding was comfortable. The hotel did not appear to be very busy as it was a week day. I have stayed here before and feel as if standard has slipped.

A terrible disappointment. I had heard that the Stamford Plaza was the original 'grande dame' of five-star hotels in Brisbane but was shocked at the condition of the property. It's clearly on its last legs and being prepared for either sale or redevelopment as clearly no funds to modernise and update the facilities have been invested for many, many years. The main restaurant is a disgrace and not fitting of a property of this kind. An Argentinean grillhouse serves as the venue for all meals. The ambience is threadbare, the seating terrible and outdoor terrace area frankly depressing and rundown. The bar is characterless and uninviting The guest rooms are very outdated and the furnishes and fittings have long outlived both their service and aesthetic lifespans. I'm sorry but I'd have to strongly advise others from staying here. I do hope there are investment plans for this property, given its superb location on the river and being right next to the Brisbane Botanic Garden. As it stands, the hotel is a terrible letdown and frankly an embarrassment for the city of Brisbane.
