The room was very spacious and felt really comfortable, while the hotel has some colonial charm. Staff was excellent and very helpful. The location of the hotel is also perfect: right in the CBD and just a short walk to South Bank or the botanical garden. Overall, a great experience.

The first star is for the hotel's location. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go during a four night stay. The second star is for the hotel's atmosphere. The heritage value of the property added to the comfort and enjoyment of our stay. Our huge room was more comfortable than being at home. In addition to having a nice view of the river, the soundproofing was excellent. Third star for the high standards of property maintenance and housekeeping. Fourth star for the food and beverages in the lounge and breakfast areas. Fresh, hot, and tasty. Fifth, and most important, star is for the staff. Thanks especially to Grant, our most helpful and amiable concierge, for going out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. His pride in this building, and its history, was infectious. Expedia puts a limit the photo size but doesn't specify what it is, so I'm unable to post photos relating to our experience.
