And the view… Is there a better view in the Smokies? The lighting, clouds, and shadows are constantly changing. We’re confident that your time with us will exceed your expectations in every way! What a View Lodge has 2674 sq. ft. of indoor living space on three levels and sleeps up to eight. The lodge features two decks, a large screened in porch with a dining area, a camp-style charcoal grill, and a flat gravel parking area large enough for three vehicles. What a View Lodge sits on a large 3+ acre wooded lot in a gated, 286-acre, community where privacy is an understatement.

Entry Level: The main level features a kitchen with a two-seat breakfast bar and all the appliances, pots and pans, and serving pieces to cook a great meal; a dining area; a large living room with cathedral ceilings and over-sized sliding glass doors; a washer/dryer combo; and a huge master bedroom and bath. In the living room there is a 43- inch HD/Smart TV, a gas log fireplace, and access to both the upper deck and the screen porch. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed and another 43-inch HD/Smart TV.

Lower Level: On the lower lever there are two bedrooms (one queen and one with two twin beds), one full bath, a large den, and another deck. The den has a large reclining sofa and double recliner love seat, with console, where you can relax while you enjoy the 65-inch HD/Smart TV, watch a movie on the DVD player (large collection of movies provided).

Loft/Upper Level: Upstairs is a large loft with a queen bed, desk, sitting area, and the third full bathroom.
Nearby Attractions: From What a View Lodge it is an easy drive to downtown Bryson City (10 miles) where you’ll find locally owned shops, hometown restaurants and breweries, and the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. The GSMR features diesel and steam engine excursions into the Nantahala Gorge, up the Tuckasegee River, and – of course – the Polar Express! Not far away are the Deep Creek Recreation Area with hiking (three waterfalls), fishing, horseback riding, and tubing; the Appalachian Trail and Nantahala Outdoor Center for more hiking, white water rafting, zip lining and more; Harrah’s Cherokee Casino; Tsali Recreation Area for mountain biking, hiking, camping, and boating; the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway; and the towns of Cherokee , Dillsboro and Sylva.
What a View Lodge winds along Alarka Creek until you head up the mountain. From there it gets steep, but it is asphalt-paved and well maintained. We’ll also help you keep a watch on any winter weather.

Beautiful three story home

Magnificent views from the house which is near the top of the mountain. Don't try getting there in the snow! The kitchen is well stocked and has everything needed to cook for a family. This is the best-appointed home we have stayed in.It does need a gas grill outside or a large charcoal grill. Other than that we can think of nothing that could improve this house. It was a terrific family weekend (4 day) getaway.

Second stay, love this place!

You just can’t find a better view than this one. The last time we stayed here I told my husband that the only thing that could make it better was a hot tub. I got my wish and the hot tub is just the perfect addition. I love the 3 levels of this cabjn that were great when entertaining 3 generations of our family. This property has everything we could need.

Beautiful home only surpassed by the view

Our family of 6 enjoyed our vacation because of this beautiful home, its location and over all comfort. The screened porch was our favorite spot. We ate several meals at the house which were easily prepared in the designer and well equipped kitchen. We felt comfy and secure and had a wonderful time gazing at the magnificent view

Spectacular views!

Everything was fantastic even though it rained the whole week. We saw the elk multiple days, enjoyed waterfalls, and just could not get enough of the mountains! The changing fog gave new views. I read one of the reviews previously, and did take and left more glass tumblers. The lack of extra dishes/silverware was the only annoying thing.

Wow! Best mountain views I’ve ever seen!

House is as described in other reviews. Will definitely be back. Likely multiple times. Really enjoyed the NOC and hiking at Deep Creek Trail Head. Bryson City is nice. The Smokey Mountain Railroad was not our favorite, but might have felt differently if our son was under age 10.

Everything about this property is wonderful. House was clean, king bed very comfortable, didn’t use any of the others, directions right on, great location and the view and privacy was the best of all. Definitely hope to return again one day.

Amazing! Photos don't do it justice.

This place is absolutely amazing! The house is spacious and clean, with a comfortable great room, two levels of back deck, and a screen porch off the top deck. The beds are very comfortable. But the location and the views are indescribable! This may be the best view I have ever had. Ever. The house sits high on a mountain. You can look straight across to the high peaks of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We enjoyed being at the lodge every bit as much as any of the activities we had planned. We will be back to that area, and I really hope that the timing works out that we can stay at this lodge again. Also, the property management company is easy to communicate with, and right on top of any issues you may have. Thanks!

"4 Traveling Sisters"

What a fabulous week my three sisters and I enjoyed in this beautiful home. Everything was perfect: the cleanliness, bedrooms/beds, well appointed kitchen, screened porch to enjoy a softly falling rain, but the 'star of the show' was the view from the lovely decks. Truly breathtaking! This was a beautiful memory making place that we will treasure forever. Thank you.

Amazing View

We picked this place to relax after spending time in Pigeon Forge. We were definitely able to do that. It's very quiet and peaceful. Everything was very clean, too. The beds were comfortable. The views are amazing and the pictures here didn't really do it justice. It's really stunning. It's a fairly long drive up that driveway, and we never encountered another car the whole time. The screened-in porch is also amazing and a great place to relax.

Truly a home away from home! Breathtaking view that constantly changes as the sun moves across the sky! You MUST watch the sunset! Great natural artwork throughout! Convenient restaurants in nearby Bryson City and Sylva or fully loaded kitchen to fix your own gourmet meals. Definitely looking forward to our return!

The views are spectacular !!! Home is comfortable and spacious. Great place to relax and get some peace & quiet. Also, lots to see and do...NOC, Harrah's casino, Great Smokey Mtn Park(elk herd viewing),Cherokee and Bryson City. Plenty of dining options. I'll be back in the fall with my wife to see the fall colors from the train out of Bryson City. Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven. Phil

Making Memories

What a great family trip! The lodge was cozy and well appointed. Beautiful wood throughout, comfortable beds, a remote controlled fireplace, and that National Geographic view! My wife and I agreed that there are really 2 spectacular views. The Great Smokys by day and the Milky Way at night. There are no roads in sight, so the home is really peaceful. Our little boy had a ball in Bryson City nearby. He played in a river, got to "drive" his first train, and happily ate mama and pop-pop's ice cream. Staying here with my family brought us some really special moments. I highly recommend the lodge for families or friends looking to hang out with a million dollar view.

We LOVED “What A View”!!!

We can’t wait to come back! We enjoyed sitting on the decks and the screen porch admiring the long range views and at night identifying different stars. Loved the well-appointed kitchen and the comfie mattress in the MBR. What A View is furnished so well, - like the guest’s comfort was top priority. Enjoyed curling up on the sofa in front of the gorgeous gas logs in the stone fireplace with a cup of coffee just enjoyed the soaring ceilings and the spaciousness of the den… This place is great!!! Highly recommend it. We enjoyed dining out some, seeing the elk and we even won a little bit at Harrah’s… such a fun time in Bryson City!

Fabulous time at an unforgettable mountain home

This place and all of its beauty is simply unmatched. The view is TRULY as spectacular as it is described - daytime shows a 3D perspective as far as the eye can see overlooking valleys and lower mountain tops and at night - you literally feel like you can reach out and touch the stars. It's the kind of place you don't want to leave. The furnishings are gorgeous, beautiful wildlife photography throughout, comfortable beds, and all the amenities you'd ever need or want. Can't wait to book again with the kids and grands to come experience the Polar Express and everything else Bryson City and its surrounding areas has to offer.
