Nature`s finest! Enjoy a memorable experience at the historic Thunderhead Lodge. This beautiful vacation rental is one of 5 traditional 'Up North' cottages that accommodate 4 guests. The beach area offers a spectacular view of Butternut Lake and a lakeside dock to enjoy fishing. There are picnic tables and a firepit down by the beach to enjoy roasting marshmallows and having family gatherings.

Butternut Lake is 1,006 acres in size and has a maximum depth of 32 feet. Species of fish include musky, northern, walleye, largemouth bass, small mouth bass, panfish and sturgeon.

Very quiet private cabin/ dock

We had a very relaxing weekend- my husband fished the whole time, I read books and enjoyed the cabin. The boats were disappointing- not well maintained- we didn’t feel confident taking them on the lake. The cabin was very basic- “rustic”- as described, but the bare necessities were there. Overall though we enjoyed our stay!

Quiet Respite

We'll be back! Love the early morning deck view with loons calling, lake breezes, easy layout. Kitchen well equipped and clean bathroom.

Weekend trip
