Don't stay here without a car
We were not happy at this location; we left 10 days early. At first they couldn’t find our reservation. The way it was handled they made it seem it was our fault somehow. I had to show him a copy of our paid reservation and a copy of our credit card record and finally explain to him to look on his Home Away records since they are associated. It didn’t make us feel welcome.
Then there was the service. I don’t have a problem with making my own bed, sweeping etc. However, no clean sheets or towels were provided in 3 weeks! We had to go find our own every couple of days and then the boy thought we were stealing and locked the room where they were stored! Ditto with toilette paper. I’m afraid 3 rolls isn’t enough for 2 people for 3 weeks!
Then there was the problem of the leaking bathroom sink. If you ran the water it dumped directly onto the floor. After 1 week they fixed that but it still dripped so much we had to empty a 2 litre container twice a day or it would be all over the floor. It was finally fixed after 2 weeks. Meanwhile the room smelled like sewer. We kept the windows open and bought an air freshener but it still smelled bad. Part of the smell was probably from the black mold on the walls. They had painted over it so it wasn’t obvious at first but after a few days we could see it through the paint. I think that is why I constantly woke up with bad headache also.
The grounds are quite nice and the pool is kept clean except it is hard to avoid all the stuff falling from the trees.
According to the description on VRBO/HomeAway there is a kitchen with a fridge, stove and utensils etc. There is but we were not allowed to use it! They did provide a small fridge in our room and also an electric hot plate after we complained.
The “breakfast” provided is instant coffee (and tea) plus a loaf of bread so you can make toast. There were limited places to go out to eat close by. There was a bakery which has good coffee, a pizza place which wasn’t to our taste, and a small restaurant for dinner but she was closed half the time we were there due to renovations. Otherwise there was a mini-super down the road with BBQ chicken which was good and a very rustic small wooden Taco stand. An OXO opened the last week we were there.
Don’t stay here unless you have a car! It is 20-25 minutes downtown or to the nearest public beach by car. I couldn’t find any information about a public bus- where to catch it, schedule, route or cost – although I did see a bus
