Could have helped, but they didn’t.

This place gets a 1 star purely for service, or lack there of. While booking through Hotels.com we accidentally booked two hotels for the same night. We obviously did not realize this and called them the next day (the day we thought we had booked for) and asked if they could help us out. Obviously we were in the wrong and we weren’t asking for a refund, we just hoped if there was still a room available the next night, would they let us push the booking? No. Quite rudely was informed that it’s against their policy. We were a “No show” so we get to pay them for the room but not get to stay there. Cool. I don’t know about your family but $160 isn’t chump change. There was no effort to offer a discount or anything to try and win our business again. We are still going to Carlsbad. We still need a place to stay. This hotel/chain has lost a customer for life and you bet I will be telling everyone this story.

I was a bit disappointed with the condition of this property. I’ve stayed at several Sleep Inns before, and this one was noticeably more run-down than others. However, the staff were incredibly friendly and professional. My daughter accidentally left her wallet behind, and the hotel called us right away to let us know. Everything—including the cash—was still inside. While the property could use some cosmetic updates, the excellent customer service more than made up for it.

The common areas such as the hallways i thought could've used a bit more attention but I cut the hotels in Carlsbad some slack because they are primarily used by oilfield workers. The room was clean and comfortable, the parking lot well lit to guard against thefts and the breakfast was hot and ready at 6am when i needed it. Overall i had a pleasant stay and would definitely stay again.

Didn't quite meet our expectations

It was okay. The rooms were nice. The Saturday morning breakfast left a little to be desired. I like a good hot breakfast, but the amount they put out went quickly with that much competition. They served ham, mini cheese omelets, and crispy potatoes. Sunday wasn't as busy and it was a better experience. They served the potatoes again, but with sausages and scrambled eggs this time. The pillows were of various types, letting you choose the ones that suit you better. The beds weren't quite as soft as a couple of fluffy ladies would prefer. The thing that surprised us the most was the temperature of the indoor pool. It was cold. Really cold. Since we chose the place based on the hot breakfast and the indoor pool, we would choose a different property for our next visit.
