this is not a hotel. It is a glorified motel and our room literally stunk of sweaty old feet we told management they did absolutely nothing for two nights. We were forced to smell dirty old feet and management rips off all of its customers by charging a $38 resort fee and again this is a glorified motel with no services whatsoever they claim the resort fee is for a welcome drink and carrying your luggage to the room. If you can believe it! It’s outrageous. It’s a rip off. They should not be allowed to charge a resort fee after already charging over $600 per night for a tiny stinky room!

Like other reviewers, we found this property to be adequate and comfortable but far over priced. We realize this is typical for Carmel and we are paying for the location which is excellent, 1 block from the beach and 1 mile from downtown. We had an ocean view king room which has a great view from the balcony, but is small with an uncomfortable bed and weak shower. Aside from the free car service and cookies at turn down there are no extras included. We did not have the breakfast, use the fitness room or spa. Service and staff were fine but nothing special.

Sleepless night due to malfunctioning fireplace

The fireplace in our room did not work, and every day we asked them to fix while receiving promises that it will. Never happened during the 4 nights we were there. This was annoying as we paid extra to find a place with a fireplace. What's worse, is that the fireplace spontaneously turned on sometime during night which woke us up due to the intense heat (~2:30am during the 2nd night there). We couldn't turn off the fireplace and there was no one available to help. We couldn't sleep with the heat and the air conditioning turned on wasn't strong enough to help. Next day they had maintenance go in to find a way to turn it off. The management was unresponsive to requests to correct or compensate us for the uncomfortable stay.

Super location. Near public beach, sunsets, walk to town but still peaceful/restful. Nice surprise-serves decent food and has outdoor fireplace and sitting areas.
