I had the distinct pleasure of being the very first guest at the Carp Lake House, which meant I was obviously taking a risk and was a bit desperate. What surprised me was that the manager/host, Scott Lindberg was there when I arrived at 5:30pm, which was well past the check-in time. He was still readying the rental - cutting grass, spraying the property for mosquitos, ramping up the Window AC unit in one of the bedrooms and explaining that he would have to return later that evening to setup the WiFi and TV as expected. Well, needless to say I ended up setting up the WiFi and TV on my own. When Sott showed up late, he at least was bearing gifts of homemade strawberry jam and a slice of lemon cake, which I thanked him for and sent him on his way! Pros: I slept amazingly on a comfy bed in a quiet, peaceful place with fresh night air coming in the windows; Shower is the best; the front deck is the best place for a morning coffee/evening wine/conversation.Cons: No clean bathroom or kitchen towels; limited kitchen supplies; in need of a deep cleaning - I couldn't use the window AC as it was dirty and moldy. So, Carp Lake is a great location for some peace and quiet! This property has great potential! I might give it another chance!
