Among the most famous Villa Olmo, a fine example of neoclassical architecture and venue for important exhibitions, and La Rotonda, a villa built at the end of the eighteenth century and seat of the Provincial Administration. Near the lakefront is the main square of the city, dominated by the Broletto (the ancient municipal palace built in 1215). The square also hosts the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, one of the most fascinating examples of Italian Gothic art. Finally, it is recommended to climb up to visit the village of Brunate, accessible by a funicular railway, symbol of the city, from which you can admire an evocative panorama around the Art Nouveau style residences.
