I paid to have to premium king balcony room. Looked nothing like the pictures did online. Walked in and the room was 58 degrees (January 31) and didnt get past 64 degrees by check out. I understand a winter storm came a week before, but we couldn't even open the door for balcony we paid for. There was no communication or updates regarding this. So pretty disappointing when it is supposed to be a "luxury" hotel. The remote management team did not try to even help the situation. Kinda like having a group of people manage something and they dont know customer service. Now, the manager that was on site, he actually tried to make things better. I give him that. But the actual management team is horrible This was supposed to be something special for my wife since I'm gone all the time due to career and was completely disappointed by this.

Not much staff when we were there, as it was not busy, but they were excellent. Feel like the place would have a great vibe on a busy college weekend. Room layout was great. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend, for sure. Don't know if our travels will take us there again, but would definitely choose the Doyle for another stay.

The lack of front desk / staff is a bit eerie. The lobby, bar & restaurant were completely empty even at the dinner hour, which made me decide to dine elsewhere rather than on the property. Despite the lack of hosting staff, inquiries sent to the hotel phone number were answered promptly via text. The hot water in both sink & shower was barely lukewarm, which was a huge minus for my experience.

We got our room at a significant discount, so for the price, this was a great option in downtown Charlottesville. The rooms and lobby were nice, but basic necessities were lacking. In most circumstances, the virtual front desk probably works fine (check in and check out were easy), but we requested a few extra blankets our first night and were told that wouldn't be a problem. An hour later, I checked the status and was told that everyone had gone home and we could get the blankets the next day. Additionally, upon inquiring about where we could get bottled water, I was pointed to nearby convenience stores. If you think about this spot as an apartment or condo rental, you'll be fine! And bring water and blankets!

Check-in was a joke. Three times the check-in didn’t work, and the operator at the phone line they offer wanted us to repeat the same procedure? Then the room code didn’t work, and again the operator gave us two more useless codes and then wanted us to wait in the hall for 10 minutes while they called for help. The one staff member went home early because he was tired. No one manned the lobby bar, the restaurant was terribly understaffed and the libby rest rooms were filthy with not toilet paper or hand towels. No one ever addressed our issues, knowing full well what was happening. WORST HOTEL EVER!
