For the best local Selsey staples, start your day with a delicious breakfast at The Boulevard, known for its great quality food and excellent prices. Alternatively, grab a breakfast bowl, coffee, or bagel at Kind Cafe inside the Thrive gym. For traditional pub fare and a friendly atmosphere, The Seal serves classic pub grub right in the village.
When you are craving fresh, local seafood, Selsey is the place to be. Head to Potters, located beside the Lifeboat Station, for same-day caught and cooked shellfish to take away - a true taste of the coast.
For waterside dining and scenic views, the area has some memorable spots. Take a short drive to the Crown & Anchor in Apuldram, a traditional pub set right on the waterfront serving top-class food, including great vegan and gluten-free options.
For special occasions or premium dining, you are perfectly situated. The renowned Crab and Lobster in Sidlesham offers a top-class fish restaurant experience (booking is absolutely essential!). For refined dining near the famous motor circuit, The Kennels at Goodwood provides an excellent quality meal in a lovely setting.
GETTING AROUND
Bus Station: There is a regular bus service to Chichester from the village.
Chichester Train Station: 20- minute drive
London: Trains from London Victoria to Chichester run every 30 minutes and take approximately 1.5 hours.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
For the best coastal experiences, head to West Wittering Beach (about 25 minutes by car). This is a beautiful, sandy Blue Flag beach in a largely undeveloped Site of Special Scientific Interest, perfect for walkers, swimmers, paddleboarders, and kite surfers.
In Selsey itself, you’ll find plenty to explore. Visit the Selsey Lifeboat Station (1.4 miles away) which is open to visitors most of the week (check times). From there, you can walk, cycle, or scoot along the Promenade all the way to East Beach. For marine life enthusiasts, try Medmerry Diving (5 minutes drive in Selsey) for deep-sea diving experiences or enjoy excellent sea fishing right from the beaches.
For nature and wildlife, Pagham Harbour RSPB nature reserve is a must-see. This internationally important wetland is one of the few undeveloped stretches of the Sussex coast and is teeming with wildlife. The reserve and car park are open at all times, with the visitor centre open daily (10 AM–4 PM). Also, be sure to visit Bosham Harbour and its picturesque Saxon church, part of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll find quaint cafes and a pretty pub overlooking the water.
The historic Roman town of Chichester is just 9 miles north of Selsey. Its pedestrian centre is home to boutique shops, cafes, restaurants, galleries, and Chichester Cathedral - famous for its separate bell tower, which is often home to nesting Peregrine Falcons. We highly recommend a walk around the City Walls, which offers great views and takes in the Bishop's Palace Gardens. Just under 10 miles away, Fishbourne Roman Palace is the largest residential Roman building ever discovered in Britain and is open daily (10 AM–5 PM).
For golf and outdoor fun, Chichester Golf Club (10 minutes drive) offers excellent facilities for all ages, including the fun Jungle Paradise Adventure Golf course. For spectacular views, hike up The Trundle, the highest point on the South Downs Way, part of the Goodwood Estate, offering views across Chichester Harbour.
Finally, for culture and history, West Dean Gardens is one of England’s greatest restored public gardens - perfect for a wander around the grand pergola. Right next door is the Weald & Downland Living Museum, showcasing historic buildings rebuilt brick by brick and set in beautiful downland countryside. Goodwood (20 minutes drive) hosts world-famous events like the Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival, and Glorious Goodwood.
Guests will have exclusive use of the entire home and garden, with dedicated parking for up to two cars.
CHECK IN / CHECK OUT
Check in time is after 4pm and check out time is before 10am. Please can we ask that you check out on time to prevent any disruption to the cleaner's schedule.
Please note a fee of £100 for lost keys and £50 for call outs if locked out.
CLEANING/ LINEN
The property will be cleaned and prepared with linen and towels for your arrival. Mid-stay cleans are not included, but please get in touch if you would like to pay to book a clean or fresh linen and towels during your stay.
We will also provide a limited amount of consumables (toilet rolls, shampoo/conditioner etc.) to kick-start your stay and can recommend a local store where you can easily purchase more when you are settled in.
PETS
One small, well behaved dog is welcome to join you on your holiday in the cottage. Please message in advance with the details of your pet (breed/age).
- Dogs must be well behaved and house trained.
- Please do not allow them upstairs or on the furniture.
- Please clear up after them in the garden and around the property.
- Muddy paws should be cleaned before they are allowed in the house.
- Please do not leave them alone in the property.
