## Emplacement
Close to the coast, Cogolin is a picturesque Provençal village built on the slopes of the Maures massif.

With a very mild climate all year round, Cogolin is one of the few communes in the Var department that slowly stretches from the land to the shores of the Mediterranean.

Life developed around its fortified enclosure, located in the upper part where the Clock Tower still dominates. This is the vestige of one of the entrances to the surrounding wall. This defensive system encompassed the dwelling houses and the seigneurial castle. Thus, Cogolin, watered by the Giscle and the Mole, flourished, enjoying the riches of its natural environment: the massif of Maures (cork, heaths), the plain with fertile lands (market gardening, canniers) and its hillsides whose vines produce a renowned wine.
