To the outside there is an enclosed gravel garden with seating, and parking can be found free on-street down the road or in the nearby free car park. The Antlers is an excellent base for exploring the marvellous Scottish Borders.

The town is home to a great range of shops, pubs and its own local history; it was once a rival to Gretna Green for runaway marriages.
