Escape the hustle and bustle of reality with a stay at Lightning Bug Lodge. While enjoying the firepit one evening our oldest son exclaimed "There are so many lightning bugs, I can catch them with my eyes closed". Hence the name Lightning Bug Lodge. Unlike many other mountain homes, it is easily accessible for all vehicles. When you arrive, the inviting atmosphere makes this cabin the perfect place to rest and unwind. The cabin features a California king bed in one bedroom, a traditional king in the second bedroom, and a full sleeper sofa in the living room with a surprisingly comfortable memory foam mattress. The cabin offers wireless internet and 4 different smart tv's, including one on the screened porch. Take in the view from the porch as you relax in the 4 person hot tub! Another great feature of the cabin is the large outdoor firepit area where you can enjoy an evening of roasting marshmallows. The cabin also offers a conveniently located park style grill. Another unique feature is a large/level parking area with space for multiple vehicles. A wood burning fireplace for those cold winter nights contributes to the cozy charm of the cabin. To top it off, the cabin offers a fully stocked kitchen and a custom made coffee bar for your convenience. Lightning Bug Lodge is the perfect cabin for your next escape from reality!

We had an incredible stay at this cabin! The mountain views are absolutely stunning—we even got to see a beautiful flurry during our visit. The deck was our favorite spot; we used the folding tables to eat dinner outside while watching the outdoor TV.A quick tip for the next guests: When we arrived, there was a patterned sheet draped over the outdoor TV. We just took it off to enjoy the screen and had no issues with glare or the picture at all! It seems like a handy way to keep the mountain dust or mist off the electronics when not in use.The host has thought of everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans, and they even provided laundry detergent and snacks (Cheez-Its are my favorite, so that was a huge win!). There are so many fun games in the house that you don't even need to leave to have a great time. We also loved the hot tub; it felt like a "warm hug" on the cold, rainy nights.A few helpful notes:• The Drive: If you aren't used to winding Tennessee roads, I’d recommend arriving before dark! I’m from the city and was a bit nervous at first, though I felt like a pro by the time we left.• Location: Super convenient! There is a general store just 3 minutes away to stock the fridge, and the main attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are about a 30-50 minute drive.• Housekeeping: The place was very clean, though a tiny bit of extra care in the bathroom would make it perfect. It definitely didn't take away from our experience

Just big enough for your family. Loved the stay the pictures on here don't really give its justice, it's more beautiful. Love the deck and hottub. We cooked 2 times on the grill. We really enjoyed it go check it out you will enjoy it like we did.

Great location for a getaway

Although we did not book Lightening Bug because of its proximity to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, visiting these locations is a beautiful drive. The cabin itself is lovely! Clean, safe, convenient, and everything they advertise. We just wanted to kick back and relax all week, which is precisely what we did. We will be considering a return trip.

Family Reset

This cabin was just what we were looking for and more. From the outdoor fire pit to the decorations through the cabin, even down to the thought full details behind the local recommendations. The cabin is just down the road from some of the most beautiful scenic roadway in the Smokies and getting to come back to soak in the hot tube after a day of hiking, relaxing with the chain lights over head was as much therapeutic for the mind as it was for the body. Our family is happy to say that we love forward to staying here again!!!

Wonderful stay

We loved it here. Everything was wonderful. The beds were so comfortable. It was just me and my son. We went to the smoky national park, Gatlinburg and , 🐦 forge. Everything was about 30 mins or so away. Just be careful at night some of those roads are scary during the day let alone at night! Overall if we ever come back we will book with them again. Thank you!

We Loved The Lightning Bug Lodge!

Our family of four absolutely loved our stay at Lightning Bug Lodge! The cabin was very clean, nicely decorated, well appointed and in a great location to experience all the things the Smoky Mountains have to offer. We packed a good mix of activities into our week including downtown Gatlinburg, dining at Ole Red, Anakeesta, Dollywood, Clingman's Dome, Cades Cove, Tuckaleechee Caverns, Carver's Apple Orchard, whitewater rafting on the Pigeon River with Raft Outdoor Adventures, hiking some trails, visiting artisan shops, eating in some small local cafes and restaurants like Janice's Diner and The Black Bear Cafe, and getting ice cream at Mad Dog's Creamery & Donuts as well as enjoying the campfire roasting hotdogs and marshmallows for smores and soaking in the hot tub while enjoying the view and listening to the cicadas. Our favorite activities were hiking, whitewater rafting and relaxing at the cabin and we hope to return soon just to do more of those three things. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful mountain cabin with us!

The cabin was perfect in every way. It had everything you would need for a family getaway. Watching the lighting bugs to relaxing in the hot tub, family time around the fire pit, it was a perfect getaway.

Felt luxurious

Beautiful, well kept house, everything you could need provided. View of the smokies from the porch peeking through the trees was what we made the drive to see. The only less than perfect thing is how close the property is to the road, traffic noises are constant, (this is not a secluded property, although there is a measure of privacy if you stay on the back porch) but that wasn't enough to take away from the enjoyment of the experience. Would definitely recommend.

The ultimate experience

You know how wealthy people rent homes and it has everything In it. That's how I felt. I'm in no way rich and this was our first family vacation. They had this cabin stocked and ready for all of your needs and entertainment. We rented it for a week and when we weren't out and about we still had so much fun just sitting at the cabin. Mid way through the week the cleaner stopped by to see if there was anything we needed. It was an absolute amazing experience and I would tell everyone to rent this cabin

Family Vacation

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The cabin was very, very clean! The beds were accommodating for our children and us, also super comfortable. It was also stocked with cookware and utensils, some food. It had appliances washer and dryer was wonderful since I had four little ones and they like to get dirty lol. The hot tub was amazing after walking all day, there was enough room for all of us. By evening they had free wifi with roku tv's which was great with the little ones (VUDU). Every morning my husband drank his coffee out on the screened porch and was greeted by a female turkey lol which he loved and the kids aswell. We also so 7 bears mainly in Gatlinburg. It was far enough from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but not to far (30 minish) There was grocery and plenty of dollar generals close by and McD's. Everything about our stay was so wonderful we definitely, definitely recommend it. We would definitely stay here in future vacays.
