Holmlea Cottage, a sweet and charming getaway in a picturesque Fife village.

Holmlea Cottage is a 180 year old stone cottage with high ceilings and original features, set in the prettiest little road in the centre of Fife. Lomond Road is narrow and set with pretty cottages on both sides, and within yards of Holmlea it narrows to a path and wooden bridge leading over a meandering burn, the path leads to a 2 1/2 mile walk up the Lomonds where great views are to be had in all directions. Freuchie is a friendly village with cosy pubs, local shops and is only 2 miles from the historic village of Falkland, where you can visit the wonderful Falkland Palace and gardens, famous teashops and lovely walks to Mapsie Den waterfall and the laid back Pillars of Hercules cafe and organic shop. You are also within easy travelling distance of beautiful and historic St Andrews with its golden beaches and golf courses, the East Neuk with its pretty harbours, and Dundee's new V & A design museum. Holmlea cottage is furnished in a pretty and vintage style with original artworks on the walls by the owner and her family, many of which are for sale. The cottage has many original features, and lovely antique furniture, as well as gorgeous textiles and carefully chosen items such as lamps, ornaments and other objects which give it a homely and attractive style, Guests always comment on how they love the details and comfort, and don't want to leave!

Great Scottish getaway

Homelea Cottage was a great way to start our Scottish vacation. Hosts Katy and Geoff were incredible with communication and made the process seamless. The cottage is well appointed and they thought of everything. The bed is very comfortable and even comes with adjustable heat. The bathroom is also setup perfectly with a tub and shower combo, much appreciated by us Americans! Also much appreciated is the cottage having both a washer and separate dryer. Although there is no assigned parking, free village parking is offered just a few yards from the front door.and there is plenty. There are several large supermarkets and retail within a 10 minute drive. We wish we would have stayed longer to explore the surrounding village. This is a wonderful and quiet place to stay and relax.

Lovely Freuchie

My dad an I stayed in this property for 20 days. It was the trip of a lifetime. Close enough to St. Andrews, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, we got to do everything we wanted to do with a rental car. Katy and Geoff were amazing as soon as we got there after a long travel day. The location was sweet and calm and everything you can hope for. Comfortable and serene setting

Lovely! The best word to describe the cottage and location. The parking area was very close and handy as roads are narrow in villages. Cottage had everything we needed and so comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend!

Great situation, in a very friendly little village. Close to some great short walks, both Lomond Hills are within easy reach. Close to St Andrews, and the East Nook of Fife. Would love to return.

Quaint More than adequate for two people. Would have given a higher score but i thought with a B&Q i was disappointed that there was no private garden. Floor mats and carpets were a bit shabby but everything else was lovely and the central heating and the most comfortable of beds made it very cosy stay Thank You

Lovely cosy cottage

We had a wonderful long weekend in this lovely cosy cottage, even though the weather was pretty grim. It's location in Freuchie is very close to lots of walks, not far from St Andrews, and the coast. The cottage has a lovely log burner and the the bed was very comfortable. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this cottage, and we hope to go back sometime.

Homelea cottage in Freuchie

Stayed at Homelea in the picturesque little village of Freuchie for two weeks. Absolutely loved the peaceful surroundings and walks. The cottage was idyllic and had everything that was required for an easy and comfortable stay. The decor and furnishings were lovely and it felt very home from home. Homely Holmlea Cottage

Holmlea Cottage is a lovely, comfortable, unique cottage, retaining some of its old features. It is very well equipped with everything that was needed. The artwork was a much appreciated bonus. It is an excellent base for visiting all areas of Fife. We hope to return at some point in the future. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Holmlea Cottage is perfectly located in a charming village and right next to trails. The cottage is charming and Katy and Geoff great hosts. The car park is steps away from the cottage. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful.

Simply the best!

This property has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Very comfortable bed and sofa bed, spotlessly clean property with a fully equipped kitchen. first visit of scotland

Holmlea cottage is the perfect Base to visit the Edinburgh area and the highland region arround perth. The cottage was very clean and we loved the antiques inside. Freuchie is a perfect Base to visit the region, to visit Edinburgh by train also, next rail station is very close. Hosts are so kind and communication was easy and quick, we can write only best and positive feed back. Thanks for that great vacation time.

Abschalten kann funktionieren…

… wenn die Umgebung und die Atmosphäre das zulassen. In dieser Ferienwohnung hat einfach alles gepasst. Man fühlte sich so richtig rund um wohl. Ich kann es wärmstens empfehlen, wenn man sich mal eine Auszeit gönnen will.
