We have stayed at Holiday Inn, and several other hotel brands, over the past five decades. This is the first time we have been asked to pay some sort of “security deposit.” Even with a reservation made and paid for weeks in advance, when I went to check in, I was asked to cough up another $50 to be able to check in. Some sort of “in case we break something….”
Really? We have been Holiday Inn Rewards Club members for a lot of years. We are members with a couple of other hotel chains too. Not in fifty years has ANYBODY ever asked for a damage deposit. THEN, when I asked about it, I was REFUSED a receipt for the $50.
Even if they offer some free nights, we might not return.
