The location is great. You're on the beach, and the view from the deck is lovely. You're an easy walk over the sand to the gulf, and we enjoyed sitting on the beach during the day, and on the deck at night, listening to the waves. The house, itself, could stand a few repairs. The main entrance door worked great, but every other door would stick. Structurally, the house seems sound, but there ARE small cracks in some of the tile spaces, that seemed consistent with a house on stilts that rocks slightly under heavy winds. All bedrooms are carpeted, and the carpets are clean. The en suite bathroom has tile that would make occasional clunking sounds when walking through it. There's an unsightly patch on the floor of the en suite shower.Everything worked well enough, though. The water pressure was good, the bathrooms were clean, the AC worked nicely, and the kitchen appliances, while basic, were all in good working shape. The furniture is dated and lumpy, but we still managed to sleep pretty well each night. The WiFi worked.. somewhat. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and for the price, would absolutely recommend -- especially considering surrounding houses rent for significantly more per night, as of this writing.Dauphin Island is a small beach town, with no major chain restaurants or grocery stores -- quaint, peaceful, relaxed. We'll be back.

My Happy Place

After reviewing some rather dated reviews about this particular rental, I was leery of renting it but went on faith and am I forever glad I did!!! Loved the stay and accommodations. The place could use a little work but nothing major. For example, the exterior door knobs are very difficult to unlock, but manageable. Great spot and great views all around and up (the upstairs balcony for star gazing) is just what this ol' gal needed and hoped for! I'd go again!

Disappointing

Disgusting carpet, pet stains all over and ripped in front of the sliding glass door which was almost impossible to open. Door knobs were very loose! Positives were the AC was great- and plenty of hot water. The ACP real Estate company was very helpful, and the area was beautiful. But the house needs multiple repairs.

Great location and very spacious.

The house was large and quiet. The location was perfect! The tile floors are perfect for bringing dogs to the beach. The only suggestion is to assure that the fire alarms are connected and that the dinnerware is a complete set with all cups and bowls.

Location is great. Pleased we could bring our dogs. Here were the items that dissatisfied us: Prior pee and poop stains on carpet Laundry and pantry doors broken Main double doors sealed shut and can not be open Only one pan to cook with Beach chairs rusted and broken Upstairs sliding door very difficult to open Grill rusted shut Upstairs bathroom vent covered in dust and toilet paper holder broken Master bath drain cover loose All this was noted to the rental agency.

Wonderful location, irritating accomodations

Here is our list: 1 - could only get into the building thru one door and it took work to open it. Please inform future renters which door opens with the keys. 2 - Outdoor doorknobs very loose and rusty. 3 - Kitchen garbage can was a 5 gallon can vs the usual 13 gallon can. One extra garbage can included. I left a full box of 13 gallon garbage cans. 4 - Upstairs bedroom screen leading to deck torn at the bottom corner, taking away guest's ability to hear/feel the surf. 5 - We had to replace 4 outside bulbs on the main deck, plus one on the upper deck. 6 - Ice maker was not turned on prior to our arrival. Most renters do this. 7 - No light over stove cooktop????? 8 - No lighting for the outside stairs. There are 24 stairs. The really should be illuminated. 9 - Living room center double doors are foamed shut and locked, making it impossible to totally enjoy the sea breeze. 10 - BBQ Grill: Rusted close. Could not use. 11 - Camp's location is prime, but considering our remarks above, it is not worth the money. Owners don't make sure "creature comforts" are there: coffee filters, Dish soaps, laundry detergents, etc. Please provide a minimum of tools: hammer, pliers. 12 - Inside sign states there are 9 kitchen towels. We found 3. Same type of situation with other towels, wash cloths. 13 - 2.5 Bathrooms advertised. One of the full bath downstairs has a raced floor and peeling paint by the window. Floor of shower is a safety issue. Chrome drain cover not secured - another safety issue. 14 - Living room: eiling fan to the left of back door missing chain to moderate fan speed. 15 - Toilet paper holder in upstairs bathroom non existant. 16 - Upstairs bath: shower did not work - shower head there. WHEN POSTING AN AD FOR THIS UNIT, TELL PEOPLE TO BRING EVERYTHING. HOUSE ONLY INCLUDED IN RENT.

Dauphin Island Magic

We've now spent a month in this lovely home and have found life to be about as good as it gets. Beach Comber is a friendly and warm home with an outstanding Gulf front view, expansive decks and an open, inviting atmosphere. It is a clean, well maintained house with large rooms and impressive amenities throughout. The master suite is spacious and comfortable and the upstairs bedrooms are large, well appointed and provide magnificent island views. The upper bedroom balcony is outstanding! The well appointed kitchen and open living/dining room are bright and cheery and ideal for great family conversation. And best of all, the water and sand of the Gulf is on full display 24 hours a day. We've traveled to a lot of beach destinations and definitely plan to return to this one!

This place is a DUMP

This place is a dump. The leather couches in the photos actually have holes in them and are covered with cheap ill fitting blue slip covers. The double front doors had a key broken off in the lock and couldn't open to enjoy the gulf breeze. The satellite overheated continuously. There were roaches everywhere. The dryer broke during our visit. We let management know how disappointing our visit was who in turn notified the owner. I never heard a word of apology from the owner or any type of compensation. It was a pretty disappointing stay. Don't rent this house, there are too many other nice homes on the island to be taken advantage of by these people.
