What a great house! Built in 1940, it’s 86 years old! The renovation changed a few things, such as new bathroom and kitchen fixtures and included laminate flooring in the kitchen, hall, and bathrooms but the hardwood floors are still there; I just loved the old flooring. The interior was furnished great, many pieces of furniture looked quite old. The windows were a “hodge podge” of what looked like an original window or two, then more modern windows elsewhere. This house is “Old Time Florida” at its best! The queen bed was comfortable (a bit soft if you prefer that) and the wi-fi worked great. We sat on the front porch a lot and over our 2.5 days being there only one car passed by. It’s a very quiet area where you hear church bells chime. The host was amazing. There was an ample supply of bottled water in the fridge and a tray of snacks (chips, crackers, etc.) on the counter for us. The morning of our visit, she sent me a text about 7:00 a.m. saying the house was ready and we could check in at any time. Way cool!Downtown Deland is great, a very quaint area with lots of restaurants. Don’t miss Santorini Greek Restaurant, but get there well before 5:00pm, else you wait an hour.We visit Deland to ride our bicycles on the rails-to-trails a few times a year and we have found our new “home away from home!”Great house and a wonderful host; highly recommended.
