Welcome to CAMP SASQUATCH!

Welcome to Camp Sasquatch, a four-season log cabin nestled in the woods of the gated community Powder Horn Mountain. This cabin is designed for comfort, featuring a huge covered porch and spacious living areas. It comfortably sleeps 8 guests with two bedrooms on the main level with queen beds, sharing a full bathroom. The upper-level offers a private suite with a king bed and private full bathroom. The basement features two queen bunk beds and a half bathroom with shower.

The kitchen and laundry are located on the main level. The kitchen includes all full-size appliances along with a wide selection of small appliances, including a French press, a combo Keurig/Auto drip coffee maker, toaster, blender, crockpot, and skillet. The home is equipped with high-speed fiber optic internet. Flat-screen TVs with Firesticks are located in the main floor family room, upper level suite, and lower level that features the queen sized bunk beds, a sofa, and big screen television.

Outdoor amenities include a gas fireplace, propane grill (We provide the propane!) and plenty of seating. Guests are welcome to bring their fur babies for a fee of $50 per pup. Four-wheel drive is not necessary to access the property. The gravel driveway provides ample parking. The primary entrance is around the back of the house, providing the fewest stairs. Both the lower door and the upper back door at the kitchen feature combination locks for guest access.

Linens are provided for all guests, and a washer and dryer are located on the main level. The garage is considered the owner’s closet and remains locked during guest stays.

Location

Camp Sasquatch is located in Deep Gap, NC within the Powder Horn Mountain community. The setting is rural and peaceful, yet within 25 minutes of the town of Boone and all it has to offer. Many guests report that once they arrive, they don’t want to leave the cabin or the community, as there is so much to do within Powder Horn Mountain itself.

Community Information

Powder Horn Mountain is a private gated community. Guests have free access to the seasonal community pool, typically open from late May through early September. Additional amenities include a fitness center and game room—both in the clubhouse, a playground, paddle boats, tennis/pickle ball court, basketball goal, disc golf course, and fishing in three community ponds or in Laurel Creek or Elk Creek. Fishing in either creek requires a valid North Carolina Fishing License. The community also offers miles of well-marked hiking trails, as well as a campground along Laurel Creek that is ideal for an evening fire, s’mores, or a game of horseshoes.

Families love visiting Tweetsie Railroad, gem mining attractions (Including Elk Creek's Lil' Hidden Gem, which is just ten minutes away!), and seasonal festivals throughout the High Country . If you are looking for a wonderful house off the grid then this is your place. It’s about 15 minutes from civilization in a gated community that is a kids and hikers paradise. The house is warm and spacious. Perfect for 6 adults and 2-4 kids. The porch is huge with a charcoal and propane grill. It’s a 5 minute walk to a pond with paddle boats and the clubhouse that has amenities that I used daily. The property has walking and hiking trail everywhere. The property contact (Susan) was fantastic and readily available. I’d 100% stay there again.

Beautiful house, great mountain community

Our family and our friends family came for a quick little getaway before the kids started school. This house was perfect! Clean, unbelievably well stocked with everything, tons of space, and an amazing setting. We love coming to visit Powderhorn mountain, the community has so much for kids to do and this house was perfect, very close to the clubhouse, trails, ponds, playground etc.. we saw a ton of wildlife from wild Turkey, to tons of deer, squirrels, rabbits etc. We will definitely stay here our next trip through if it’s available.

Best vacation ever!

This home was beautifully situated in the mountains. There were hiking trails nearby with views and waterfalls that were breathtaking. It was a perfect fit for our family. Our dog also loved how pet friendly it was. He loved the trails and the dog toys just waiting there for him. The clubhouse was just a short walk and my kids loved the game room. The only thing my kids wished it had was a hot tub. Also the grill was almost out of propane which made it hard to grill, but everything else was amazing! Perfect for families!

Did Everything to Make our Stay Excellent

From beginning to end, Susan Chaney, property manager, worked with us to insure we had everything we needed for a well stocked holiday. The house was spotless. Dog bowls and beds were provided for our pets. All the sinks had liquid soap. Beach towels were provided in addition to dish towels, bath towels, hand towels and washcloths. We even had makeup washcloths! Paper products, dishwasher tabs and a well equipped kitchen made it easy to avoid holiday crowds at the grocery stores. The house is near the children’s park, lake and pool. Plus the house has lots of puzzled and games. Nearby hiking trails and the large yard made it easy to walk the dogs. The porch and deck were nice as was the grill. We had a great time. This is a really cute house.

Eight people (six adults, two under 18) fit very comfortably in this house! The deck was beautiful and we hung out there a lot. The inside was spacious and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed to cook meals there. It was a great weekend get away!

Close to all activities in Boone & Blowing Rock

Cabin was very nice in a nice gated community. We were 4 adults and two young children and had lots of space. It was a pre Christmas getaway to do a little tubing and shopping. Although the Kitchen had absolutely everything you could need to prepare meals we enjoyed local restaurants and breweries. The girls loved the games and the Wii Station. Thank you so much for the Christmas tree it was an added touch we didn’t expect but made sitting by the fire with the glow of the tree at treat! Susan the manager was extremely responsive we truly couldn’t have asked for a better 4 days. Thanks again for sharing the cabin!

Hiking paradise, friendly neighbors, well-appointed lovely cabin, fun amenities.

Powderhorn provides some of the most beautiful trails I’ve ever hiked. The falls and rapids along the streams are breathtaking. Our cabin was comfortable, well-stocked, and lovely. I look forward to returning. Book early!
