The area is a mix of historic, tree-lined residential blocks, student-oriented rental housing, and renovated multi-unit buildings. Walking distance to local cafes, bars, and restaurants, hospitals, and a short walk or bike ride to downtown Des Moines and the East Village entertainment and dining district. The vibe is urban + residential with frequent foot traffic during the school year and easy access to downtown events and cultural attractions.

Public transit: Des Moines Area Regional Transit (DART) operates several bus routes serving downtown and the university corridor; downtown has DART Central Station for transfers. Biking & walking: very walkable for campus, downtown and nearby restaurants; good bikeability with dedicated lanes on some nearby streets.
