Our room was fantastic. The renovation is stunning. We have stayed at the Royal Park Hotel more times than I can count, in fact our daughter’s wedding and reception were held there! Our only complaint is the ridiculous fees added when you checkout. There is a $20 nightly fee to SELF park and an “amenity fee” of $15.90 which covers virtually nothing other than 2 “free” bottles of water. We always leave feeling buckled and dimed. The hotel is quite expensive, so these added charges feel unnecessary

My wife and I loved this hotel! We stayed in the Park Suite, and the aesthetic—both in the room and throughout the property—was meticulously designed. You can tell every detail was thought through. Every staff member we interacted with was helpful, professional, and attentive. I couldn’t have asked for better service. Room service was quick, and the hotel amenities were excellent. We’ll definitely stay here again on our next trip to Michigan.

My reservation included a made to order breakfast which the hotel did not honor, two rooms, an extra 55 dollars for each of the two nights. I spoke to reception, but was told they had no record of it. Very disappointing and unhelpful.

An unexpected deposit/hold of $1,100 was due at check in without any prior notice to my trip. In my experience with every hotel I’ve used this has been $100-$200. This was not planned for and I had only brought a majority of cash on my trip. This was embarrassing. I had to sit there and make transfers from banks to cover this outrageous deposit in front of my date.

Check in staff, one African American man in particular that checked us in was beyond unprofessional. All he did the entire process was insinuate reasons why we were staying at the hotel. Making remarks that were SO offensive. Me and my husband were so uncomfortable. For a high end hotel, we expected high end service. Sadly we won’t be coming back or recommending and it’s a shame because the room was beautiful and clean.
