Never gets old

Where do I even begin? I live in Detroit and was long overdue for a staycation. I splurged a bit, but every penny was worth it. Every single staff member I encountered was incredibly warm, thoughtful, and accommodating—how is that even possible? My room faced Woodward, yet it was perfectly quiet thanks to top-notch soundproofing. And that waterfall shower? Made me feel downright luxurious. I truly can’t wait to come back. I will say I’m not a fan of Hotels.com’s customer service.

I have wanted to stay at Shinola Hotel for some time! It did not exceed expectations but did offer an enjoyable brand experience design wise. I would not recommend this stay based on hospitality or services as I found they were minimal-to-none aside from the quick valet service upon arrival and departure.

At night, motorcycles roar up and down the street and roar their engines extra in front of the hotel. The hallway smells musty. There were stains on the headboard, the couch was all sunken in, and the walls in the room seemed so bare it felt like a sanitarium. But, the restaurant was very nice, the breakfast was incredible, and the staff was very friendly.

This hotel beautifully blends modern and classic design elements. The suite I had was enormous, impeccably clean, and offered a stunning view. I particularly enjoyed the luxurious rainfall shower and the deep soaking bath, which added a touch of relaxation to my stay. The bed, pillows, and couch were incredibly comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a long day. The amenities provided were thoughtful and added to the overall experience. I appreciated the bathrobe, slippers, and the availability of tea and coffee. However, my stay was marred by a significant noise issue. The sound of motorcycles was quite disruptive, making it difficult to sleep until around 3 AM, even with the white noise machine provided. A suggestion for improvement would be the addition of bath salts for the tub, which would enhance the relaxation experience further.
